I think the NPC is the same job all the time, one we don't have access too, and that he/she just uses different abilities depending on what style he/she is using.

This is because the NPC never relates to jobs when shes changeing what abilities he/she is using but as a style of play. Also, no matter what style you ask her to play she'll always keep the same level, which wouldn't happen if she changed her acctualy job. Another reason I believe this is because he/she can use the same equipment no matter what style of play she is currently under.

Not exactly. We know that attacker style has double attack and hits harder.

Tanker has provoke

Healer does less damage and whm spells.

They have "jobs" so to say. There is nothing that says a pc job restrictions must equal NPC job. heck crystal warriors can do stuff we can't do.

As far as some of the randomness of their armor changes...they have little bearing on their damage/defense...and maybe just for looks.

reisuki - did you get the cutscene yet?
I think the onion weapons should work (first sword is onion sword i guess). those without onions will be the lowest level but probably not the rusties

My NPC dinged 32 the first call today, and then I called again and got some amount into 32. I still can't get the weapon cutscene from Luto though, I'm not sure what the trigger is for that.

Update. Seems like it takes 6 summon fellow times to get weapon selection cutscene.

So it's not based on level that I know of.

That would make sense, I've called mine 5 times now and I can't get the weapon cutscene.

I'm also wondering if the weapons affect anything; mine is set to healer and I have no idea if I should give a club or a staff or just go for something big like a great axe.

I took my NPC out with a THF friend today. It seems that you can't SATA it, because everytime he would try the hate would never be transferred onto my NPC but instead always onto him.

Just thought I'd add that in.

I've found that everything the NPC does is based on sessions. After 3 sessions you can change her style, after 5 Luto will give you the weapon cutscene. After each session I've checked both, and this is what I've found to be common among my friends.
