    Im running out of places to lvl my NPC....she got 57 last night I usually lvl off of GC coffer mobs meriting myself the Whirl of Rage attack from weapons doesn't really hurt my NPC all that much but sometimes I myself take a beating or she decides to tank herself after Tachi: Koki T.T and take a beating herself...went LoO to camp Ose/break latent with a few LS mates and well she got great xp there but im looking for more a solo area and i just need some general ideas any would be greatly appreciated thanks

      • Re: Mirror Images BCNM video

        I made a video of the (currently) last quest NPC BCNM fight. The quest is Mirror Images and it's level 50 cap. I hear folks having trouble with it, so I decided to make a vid of my first try. It's not pretty strategically wise. ;;

        It's only 59.8 megs.

        ftp://ftp.ffxionline.com/incoming/mirrorimages-v2.avi (Try to save to hard drive rather than streaming)

        Strats for this BCNM are here, but most people agree that these strats are bogus as you can see from my vid. Enjoy!

        Edit: The video uses xvid codec. It's pretty common, but if you can't play it for some reason, you prolly don't have it installed.

          A lot of the information on that page is junk. Probably because not that many people have completed this BC and submitted info on it. That page claims Vassago is highly susceptable to Paralyze, when actually he's a dark knight and has the resist paralyze job trait. As rdm with capped enfeebling, I got resisted 4 times in a row and stopped wasting time with it.

          Setting your NPC to stalwart shield is needless. As fastcart demonstrated, if you just run out of range while he's casting Blighted Gloom, your NPC will absorb and counter it regardless of who has hate.

          Double Post Edited:
          Red Mage: Ninja subjob, 2 Crimson Blades, 1 Meat Mithkabob, life belt, battle gloves, crow gear, phanlax rings, npc to stalwart shield, yagudo drinks/ethers/mulsums. Keep Vassago debuffed. Make sure Utsusemi+Stoneskin is up before you convert. Use Enfire as the enspell. Most of your mp will be used to heal your NPC with Cure 2 and only use cure 3/4 if npc is at low health. Seraph Blade whenever TP is ready. try not to pull hate at all, becausing pulling hate at the worst time can end the fight in a defeat.
          Nonsense.

          Red Mage: MP-giving subjob of your choice. Bring a decent sword or dagger. NPC to stalwart shield or fierce attacker based on preference. Stop at the edge of the room and cast Stoneskin then Protect and Shell on yourself and your NPC. You can get just close enough to do this without starting the fight. Rest to full. Phalanx, Haste, Ice Spikes, En-spell aligned with current day or weather. Run in and engage. Land Slow, Dia II and Poison II. DoTs are your friend. Blind and especially Paralyze are strongly resisted so don't bother. His spells aren't much stronger than his melee so Silence is optional. If your NPC is significantly under the cap, you might want to add Gravity for a better hit rate. Melee, keeping buffs and debuffs up. Heal with Cure III if your NPC gets below 50%. If you see the "Mirror of Blighted Gloom...I command thee" message, immediately unlock and run out of range. If you ration your mp well, you shouldn't need food or meds. I didn't even use Convert.

          Double Post Edited:

            I did it naked with 2 kats as ninja and Soothing Healer, not the easiest fight that way but loads of fun. I saw my npc do a fancy special move x.X;;

            He's 56 now with scorpion harness, i'm gonna get him nobles pants next since thats the next most visible part on a tarutaru

              Best way to get what you aim for is to kill mobs in starting areas that almost never lose control, (eg Ronfaure, Rarutabaruta, Gustaberg)
              and lock the armor when you get what you want.

              I think I've finally figured it out. Your NPC's armor changes depending on a combination of who controls the region you're in, who has the most influence when the NPC is called, and how close it is to San d'Oria, Bastok, Windurst, or Jeuno.

              I noticed when I leveled my NPC in Eldieme while it was San d'Oria controlled and influenced that one call reset a piece of armor to level one RSE. On another occasion I was in San d'Oria controled and influenced Bibiki Bay leveling on everything near the zone. During one call her chest piece reverted to a doublet, which is part of the Windurst set. I don't have much else to back up my theory but it seems to make sense.

              Also, if you level your NPC on the level sixty bats in KRT and try to zone up the stairs they'll follow you out. =/

                Has anyone beaten it without a lvl 50 NPC? cause I want to beat it some time soon and I dont think I'll be able to get him up 12 lvls anytime soon. (Unless someone wants to have a 57 Whm & their NPC join them on midy ^^)

                Yay, Ty for this Eohmer~

                  Mine was 45 when I did it. Her damage output and mitigation was pretty weak though. I think if she was too much lower than that she might as well not have been there.

                    Well, that makes it a little bit less I might not have to lvl him. . . idk though, might just take him up to 50.

                      I busted out my npc in a lvl38 pt last night when my friend d/c for 10mins XD

                      He was healing type, but his acc when meleeing was pretty decent. Not to mention he took a load off the WHM curing. It went well, i dont have the parsing with me to post tho >_<. something like 1k DRK, 800SAM, 650NPC for one of the fights.

                      Works out when you need to wait for a 6th to show up.

                        I'd invite you to xp with me, but if you're whm55, you may be better off getting to 60 first. The mobs I npc xp on are like level 65-70.

                        I can't say whether you'd win with a npc38. But, at least they easily attain levels at 38-45.

                              What I do is use somepage's mob search and do a search for mobs with a minimum level 3 levels above my npc and a maximum level of the highest level mob I can kill in under 3 minutes (usually around 5 levels below me). Use a hard level limit and filter out NMs and fished mobs and pick a target from the list that sounds appealing to you for drops or zone or difficulty.

                                Three levels above is kinda low:
