It dosen't really make sense as to why you can't just call an NPC anywhere. If you only get them for 30 minutes to an hour a day its not terribly unbalancing. I think it would be interesting to try some BCNM or ENM with NPCs. You take a big risk by not having a real person in their place, but I think it could work. Most NPCs will go down in a big hurry versus most HNM anyway, so why not be able to call them?

As for BCNM or ENM since they don't get aggro that's a good thing...Their Accuracy is good I was leveling my NPC in Ro'Mauve against Killing Weapons and He almost did as much damage as I did w/ his G.Katana,Upgrade II,level 37

Additions to the Fellowship System

The version update in early October will bring the following changes to the Fellowship system:

-Several Fellowship quests will be added, including one that raises the NPC's level restriction.
-There will be an increase in the variety of equipment worn by the NPC.
-Extra conversational options will be available at the Rendezvous Point.
-There will be more fighting styles to choose from.
-More information will be displayed on screen, such as the NPC's hit points.

These changes and more will be included in the upcoming version update. Details may be found on the FINAL FANTASY XI main page as soon as they are released.

According to the screenshot, that was Movalpolis, and not the Mineshaft. It could be another situation similar to Eldeim, but that opens the possibility of leveling in dungeons.

What I want to see for gear options is to be able to choose the item and see that your choosing it. My npc wears a pin of some sort I imagine. I say "I imagine" because you can't tell if he has headgear on or off.

I would also like to see more interaction with your npc. How about at rendevous points you are able to have a random chat with your npc. What you choose either raises or lowers your connection with them. Therefore raising would lower the amount of time between calls? Lowering your connection would decrease the time they stay out? I know they are easily mapped and people will just make a guide for it but some sort of twist to beef it up a bit.

Intresting idea about the questions deal. Kind of tricky to accomplish but there are a few ways to possibly get that idea acomplished. As far as the questions to make it something only you would know so the best that a mapping would do is provide possible question asked no definate answer to it, so something like:

Remember when we first met? (Choices being: Firesday, Earthsday, etc...)
What area were we in last time you called for me? (Area being the list of Kolshushu, Sarutabaruta, Gustaberg, Ronfaure, etc..)
What day was it when I had died? (Firesday, Earthsday, Watersday, Windsday, Iceday, Lightningsday, Lightsday, Darksday)
Which zone did we fight in last? (East Sarutabaruta, West Sarutabaruta, Horototo Ruins, etc...)

That way the question is a little more tailor made to the player and their NPC, but questions like that is pretty difficult to make trick questions out of. Unless they throw in some random babble the NPC might do and a question based on that, then it can throw in a few curve ball questions to catch players off guard.

Either way new update coming looks intresting so far, not a lot of detail out yet but new areas, npc fellowship upgrades, and new stuff in general is usually exciting to see.

wierd, on my 6th or seventh call I talked to luto and got the option to give a weapon, I never knew about the upgrades so it was my first time talking to her. She asked me to give a low level weapon, but she took the tachi (Gkatana), which is supposed to be on the level 2 upgrade list. She wouldnt take the uchigatana. My npc only level 31 btw, died twice on me.

Mines still lvl 30 =/ but I bet that if I lvled him with my friend, he'd be lvl 31 really fast.

My NPC doesn't lose TP while resting. Just thought I'd put that out there just incase she's hacking.

Impaction, is your NPC Attacker type? I was thinking maybe those don't lose TP as opposed to Shield or Healer style.
