Alright, time to start speculating on what causes armor change. Here are my ideas.
A) Keeping them healthy and not near death most of the time.
- Easiest way to do this if you can't heal your buddy is to fight things without AOE.
B) Fighting things that will both A) Give good exp to them but B) They can still hit with good accuracy- meaning at most ten levels over; Anything higher is wasted.
C) Don't let them die.
D) Actually fight stuff, if you call then immediately dismiss, they will not change one way or the other.
Based on your experiences, do you think I am on base here?
I went to Highlands on my very first session as lvl 15 rdm. My NPC's outfit changed. But, I think it is better if your NPC gets good xp. Like in Altep or Zi'tah (for lvl 30-33).
Zanta needs to work on his wording and not restate the obvious which was posted 20+ times in the first 30 pages. Like has been stated over and over, npc gets exp according to its lvl vs mob's lvl and ignores your lvl unless you are below 30, then it matchs yours for exp purpose. Thus you reach optimum exp for your 15-20 kills by killing stuff IT to your npc like lvl 40 mobs. Whether your npc engages the enemy has no affect on the exp.
i wasnt talking about exp at all i was commenting on the outfit >.>
sorry if i made anyone mad, part of it might be that this is among my first thread experiances and i'm still very much used to real time chat, again i'm sorry
After not dropping my pearl for a couple sessions she's now wearing caster gear. I've had Yoli on Healer since level 30, and so far she's stuck to melee armor. Now at 36 she's changed her chest to the level 29 armor.
Well my NPC finally dropped a lot of her equipment and boy did she drop it. It's also the past 4 calls I was alone without my other two friends. Before she had on gear that looked like she was equipping with all Iron Musketter Equipment, then after the sessions alone she started going back to the lizard jerkin o.O
There was some things to this that was different though then before, we were not fighting monsters with AoEs now. So she didn't need to be healed, the quantity of WS she would do suddenly dropped greatly, and the battles were a bit longer. Also since the stuff is like DC to me I had to rest more frequently, this also ended in a result of her leaving because of time expiring and not because of killing the 15 monsters.
With this I had a few ideas on what probably determins the equipment worn as well as how fast they probably upgrade it:
1) Time taken to beat 15 monsters
2) Damage NPC takes
3) Player-NPC relation, are they doing frequent WSs and/or less down time
4) Average time of each battle
5) Is NPC engaged in the fight
Those seemed to be the conditions I've noticed happen or speculated that seem to be happening with my NPC. She downgraded most of it but when I decided to do a blitz run and got 15 monsters in 7 min. she again upgraded some of the gear.
Cheezy Test Result (I am nerdier than 96% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!)
I'm not certain WS rate has anything to do with it. I was fighting buffalo with two friends and plague was on 80% or so of the time, and had no ill effects once I returned. Then again, I was careful to avoid AOEs and chained with her every time she did get TP (rare as it was.)
