seeing everyone's using the dropping trick, it won't be a smart move to do without letting us know. If they plan to do it at all.

well if they do it wouldn't be as bad as say, reseting your NPC back to 30.
Bah. The hell it wouldn't be. Look at the My NPC link in my sig. I'd have to start from scratch. I'd have to do 2 weeks worth of xping (at 15 kills a day) to get back to where it took a week to get to. d:
Besides, I don't see the drop pearl trick as a big enuf deal to make our lives harder over.
I don't see why people call dropping your Signal Pearl in order to get a new one a "trick" or an "exploit." SE obviously accounted for this and that is why there is the 24hr limit (reset at 0:00 JP time) for getting a 2nd new pearl. SE knew there would be people that dropped their Signal Pearl on accident and also people that would do it on purpose. Since they are the ones that design the quest they know how it works SE was smart enough to place a limit on obtaining new Signal Pearls so that you can't exploit the game mechanics for the quest. Now, say if SE added the quest and forgot to place the limit for one new Signal Pearl per 24hr period and people were able to call their NPC infinitely by using the drop method then I would say, yes, that is an exploit.

Actually reverse of that is true too. Say SE ment for you to only get 1 pearl and put that in, at first, for an incase you didn't get to use and lost the pearl that day. In other words trying to be nice and let you get to use the NPC 1 time each day, it's a flaw programmers will constantly fall back on expecting the players to play nice.
Now they find that players take advantage of it so change it that if you have a pearl that day you are tagged as having one so if you drop it you have to wait till next day. Pain is this is more codeing for them to do while the previous is definatly easier and faster all around.

in that case, they might just forget to keep the reuse timer. If you drop the pearl and get a new non-reset one then, tada, problem solves for S-E. But I really agree with what Jab said.
Besides, calling twice a day give us a little more thing to sink our time into which isn't a bad deal imo.

Nah, timers in this case are a lot better when kept with each object. Though this also means if the object is destroyed the timer is gone too. Again means more codeing for them just to keep the countdown on the timer, and with the timer this is even heavier coding that could effect performance something you want to avoid messing with.

I'm very interested in how they gain EXP. Mine seem to level up after they dismiss themselves after 15 kills, because I rarely see a level up in my logs. I've tried fighting EP as much as I can, but I still don't see a definate pattern in leveling.
It would be sweet if you can trade them Cursed gear and they un-curse it and put it on.

And your hair flows like.. The ocean breeze...
Not a million fights could make me hate you, you’re invincible. Yeah, It’s true.
It’s in your eyes, where I find peace.
