  • Character Stats

    I need some clarification on how stats work. I know the basic functionality, but not all the other aspects.

    STR: Physical damage, and...?
    DEX: Melee Accuracy modifier, Critical hit rate?
    VIT: Physical defense?
    AGI: Evasion modifier, Ranged Accuracy?
    INT: Spell accuracy?
    MND: Cure potency, status condition resistance, and Divine spell accuracy/potency?
    CHR: Song spell modifier, charm success rate

    Attack: DPS measure, to-hit rate, or what?
    Defense: VIT + AC? (plus any other modifier)
    Magic SAttack: Magic damage potency
    Magic Defense: Resistance or mitigation?

    they are mostly speculations ppl assume after many trials. there are more than this which we don't really know.

    str: attack for melee and bow. modifier for many WS.
    dex: accuracy. critical hit power and main modifier for sneak attack
    vit: defense. reduce physical damage taken. modifier for some WS and monk's ability.
    agi: range accuracy, parry, dodge, trick attack.
    int: mostly blm's spell. more powerful. some said it increase magic defense I don't quite believe it tho.
    mnd: whm's spells. increase white magic debuffs efficiency like slow/paralyze. Also believe to help resist status allignment. again not sure. Mnk's chi blast also based on MND.

    attack and STR together is a part of equation that determins the damage you will do on the enemy.
    [attacker's attack & str] VS [defender's VIT & def] <-- the equation was posted somewhere maybe someone will have the link. Basicly, you need both to reach your cap damage.

    magic S attack, magic defense I don't really know how they work.

      Just to add though, it's been stated that CHR also helps some WSs think mostly it was MNK ones.

        Number = % out of 100%.

        MAB 5 = 5% more damage.

          Dex vs agi determines crit percentage

          So they're important for defense in a round about way.

          Vit also determines chakra for mnks.

            CHR is a modifier on Shadowstich and Dancing Edge. MNK WS are STR/VIT ONRY if I recall correctly.

              Just adding a bit more for detail sake. Apparently AGI along with parry/shield helps counter rate for MNK.

                Vit also controls crit damage received and defense modifier

                  Oh yeah, it's for those too but I do recall there were some MNK WSs that used CHR as well. If I can just remember the MNKs WS names I could say which it is, I'd know it if I saw it >.>

                  Dragon Kick that's the one uses CHR. There use to be speculation that Asuran Fists, Backhand Blow, and One Inch Punch used CHR also but don't think they ever went anywere. Though I would think that Spinning Attack should be CHR also.

                  One Inch Punch though in real life that really isn't STR related at all, it's AGI and DEX related. The technique and speed is much more important for that then STR is though STR does help it.

                    I thought a real one inch punch did have a fair amount to do with str...in that yes, you need to hit fast, but also following through pushing harder after you've made contact.
                    Note: never actually done any martial arts in my life, just trying to make an observatin based purely on what I've seen.

                    MND also helps the added affect for holy bolts

                        one inch punch...would need a fair amount of str. It's basically using arm strength as oppose to the body.

                        I'm assuming it's just a mnk forte of str, so they should have stuff based on that.

                              Wow, I thought I made bad jokes...sorry grandmom.

                              About the mnd adding to all bolt effects, I'm not sure. Most are not an added dmg that you can quantify as easily. Those like acid bolts and sleep bolts are different. Though it could be possible that increasing mnd could make them stick faster, last longer, or in the case of acid bolts, lower the def even further. Not sure anyone has tried this, may have to take a look into it sometime.
