The way a Summoner solos in Ifrits is simple. The T shaped passageway to the Protocrystal has bomb types. Near the zone is the camp. Summoner, summons Avatar attacks closest bomb then runs far away to stay away from aggro.Wait for avatar to "poof" or bomb to "BOOM". If no BOOM, then thers a 100% chance of a poof. Re-summon and let avatar attack the bomb. With a Additional summoner I have 2 other Npc's that can poof on the bomb or make it blow much faster. Sadly though IF the summoner is stupid and fights near bomb, he'll poof also and my hopeswill be dashed. so i will have to find another solo leveling spot.

I would want a thf if I'm farming, but can the AI even understand TA and SA???

Looks like people will all end up getting simple jobs AI function jobs. Situational jobs would be too hard like thf, nin, Smn, etc.
I guess Gillfarmers don't influence my daily life so I pretty much ignore them in my travels. So ihave no reason to speak on them much. But others , particularily melees are influenced by them a ton.

As far as the intelligence of the AI for the NPC friend, from what I read about the commands, something about a <tf> will let you send commands to your NPC, so the intelligence of the AI will greatly depends on the intelligence of the player controlling it. Also on that note, patch notes said only the player the NPC is attached to can send it commands.

yeah, it's <ft> and seems like it lets you control the friend. I'm curious how it'll work, if it's like my pet wolf in "Viking MUD" or the soldiers in the Karthagian Army on "Viking MUD" then I'll be pleased. I loved playing a solder on the Karthagian Army, hire 6 soldiers go fight an monster that takes a whole party toss 1 soldier first to guard everyone when he's about to die have soldier #2 go defend everyone and so on. By the time all my soldiers were about to die I took defensive duity and usually the monster only need 1 or two hits, have 6 soldiers all dual wielding some cheapy axes and it goes down easy >.>

Anyway point is the soliders were so controllable I could sent a command like:

        /SolderA emote slap <SolderB>.
/SolderA say "Hey there buddy you're in my seat."
/SolderB emote lets loose a loud and wet one.
/SolderB say "Still want the seat?"

Basically you had complete control of them.

Not neccisaraly, there's a similar system in Guild Wars where you can bring henchmen allong in your party. On GW there's a number of different classes you can hire, Swordman, Mage, Healer, Archer, etc. If you bring a healler they will stand back out of the fight and cure you, res you and other members if you / they die. You can also specify what you want them to attack by calling your target. The main problems I've seen with it are them getting stuck on the terrain. If SE use a similar system it could be quite good. Just have to see how it pans out.

              I hope we don't get stuck with a level 1 NPC companion -.-;;;
In the moonlight, your face it glows.. like a thousand diamonds, I suppose.
And your hair flows like.. The ocean breeze...
Not a million fights could make me hate you, you’re invincible.
              Yeah, It’s true.

Well I would guess it starts out at lv. 1 like a player does. It then advances with you if you only get 70% of normal and the NPC I would guess gets 100% then he should catch up to you fairly quick. You might at first need to have him sit back while you kill stuff to get him leveled up but then the level restricted zones could help out a lot for that.

                Double Post Edited:
I would probably be more conserned about the gear the NPC equips, I mean if he's like a Ranger type and doesn't equip a bow

Or say he's a mage type and doesn't have 1 lick of gear to help his magic.

The way that the following items are acquired has been changed:
Archer Ring, Leaping Boots, Emperor Hairpin, Peacock Charm
In addition, players may receive an EX/Rare or EX item with the same attributes from the monsters who previously dropped each of the above items.

This patch address some degree of counter-gilseller like the archer ring/LL boots change. I think their fellowship quest to some degree will have that same idea in it: harder for gilseller to do because, perhaps, require a lot of time? It shouldn't be based on camping NMs for drop it seems.

lol thats sorta where i thought up this idea, has probobly many have. there are so many benifets to this, its sad that S.E hasnt changed it. the big thing is that more players will use the furniture more. an it will be worth the time an money to make/sell.

i also wish my title wouldnt change everytime i killed something. i love the one i have now. to go buy my friend a sword an have my title change is cheesy.

this npc partner, any idea if we can choose race/gender? im curious what there job might be, but to give it a ton of commands. isnt that expecting a huge amount of memory an space?

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

How would you tell a thf to move to x,y position? How would you tell a smn to move back? How would you tell a ninja to keep rotating shadows?

Some jobs are much easier to control like a blm, or a dragoon, or warrior...other jobs require more "human awareness" like a bard weaving around in battle @.@ or a thf moving behind for SA, then move infront for TA.

Then there are the "banned" things. If ffxi made a good system, you can make npcs not do certain moves, to increase chances of moves they should do... Your blm npc going firaga in nest = wipe.

Well human players have equally been stupid, but at least slapping them gives you comfort...

if i'm reading the patch note carefully, it seems that se is implying that those items will no longer be dropped by the nms that previously dropped them and that the originals will be placed elsewhere, such as a bcnm. they will now drop rare/ex versions of those items in their stead.

please correct me if i'm wrong, although it would be lovely if i were somewhat correct.
