Yeah, I have the Spring 2004 version too.
I would also like to see a new strategy guide some time in the future, (if ever SE, or whoever makes these guides has the time to spend on them) but the only guide I have heard about so far, is an FFXl book of world maps. (or an Atlas, as it were)
I haven't bought one yet, so I don't really know how much use it is, and if it is any good.
Still though, I have use of other FFXl sites, and as someone mentioned above, Allakhazam.com. I have found them to be very useful in finding certain things when I need them, especially when I need to know about a quest or mission. So if anything...... that, and other sites are good enough for me until another guide may or may not come along in the future. Who knows? :cool_shad
Alla can be wrong a few things. We're actually looking at implementing our own database for FFXIonline to make it a premiere site for info and talk.
I do wish the japanese guides would get published here. I have near all of them and the world concept book , which it alone kills ANY brady guide.
Most japanese guides like the lightning brigade books have more pages and info and come with dvd add ons to make the experience better. Check out animebooks.com for more info or Kinokuniya.com if you read japanese.
yeah things like saying bst/whm suck because they have no mana. saying things like one race is superior over another. missing mobs from areas. quests were mentioned, but none prior to them giving it to you.
i seen the books taz was refering too, so much information, maps quests an so on. sad they wont make an english version. becuase i cant read it to save my life.
Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.
There are plenty of bad advice...
Such as not using oil or powders, or thf not working on rare/ex, and stuff.
Basically don't use it as sacred truths.
It's synth and other craft charts are kinda shaky too...though if you got money to burn, it's at least collective.
And finally the latest edition is about what? 3 updated old? with another update next week.
At very most, it's a decent collective source when you don't have 2yrs experience behind you in the ffxi world... newbies, and people constantly lost can use any knowledge they can get.
Oh year they also have some witty lines, if you're into that kind of stuff to pass the time... My favorite was something along the lines of "A warrior is either first to die, or last man standing"
Some of the information like BST one, is misleading, read it through, I don't have the book with me right now, but I believe it says something like 'BST kill exp if they capture something higher level' in a ... misleading way... as you know, people, especially english players, cannot read anything without skipping the most important part; same reason why I got bitched at for saying Raging Axe isn't AoE, because the idiot thought I was saying Raging Scythe, when there is no one with Scythe in party.
Other information, I believe they are trying to work on SE plan, and not the set out life of gamefaqs or the 2 years of importer/japanese players... NIN/RDM or BLM/SMN might sound stupid, but those might be what SE intended for us to play as, hell, NIN is a battle enfeebler, not a tank, to SE eyes, which is why the guide never mentioned NIN tanking.
Anyway, I am interested in buying those JP FF guides, especially the recent anthology series, they recruited doujinshi artists to draw for them. How much did you pay for? And which site? Taz.
