  • Needed changes for Ballista?

    With Square- Enix obviously showing signs of willingly fixing problems with Ballista, what changes would you like to see be made to Ballista?

    I recently tried Ballista since the new rules/exp revamp and it was loads more fun than when I had tried it at its release. I feel they've done a pretty good job at keeping things balanced and the play style really encourages teamwork which really makes it more fun. All in all i've actually become a Ballista addict and it's one of my favorite things to do in game now.

    I use to think it was lame that you couldn't change equipment, basically screwing over all end game jobs as many have macro changes for many of their actions. But then came to realize hey, if everyone is penalized for the change then it is indeed fair and also if you could change equipment non-stop no one could ever target you. So that complaint I had wasn't very valid.

    Only real issue I would like to see be addressed would be targeting. I wish you could hit F8 and target the nearest opponent. While /ta <stnpc> is nice, being able to hit F8 would make things loads easier.

    Some cool things I would like to see but not really needed would be like... declare a duel. Too many times I see people roll up on others and someone starts shouting "THIS WAS 1 V 1 LEAVE PLZ GOD". I think it would be cool if you could send a duel invite to someone, if they accept then it makes it so you and your opponent cannot be acted upon until the duel was over. Course this isn't what SE wants most likely since they want it to be a team effort and the main focus to be score petras. But if people are going to do 1 v 1 during matches, may as well help make it more proffesional i guess.

    Anyway enough ranting, leme know what you think SE could realistically add to make Ballista that much better.

    Duelling would be good as a separate event entirely... they could take bets and all sorts
    I have yet to take part in Ballista, but you're constant hyping of it makes me really interested. How long does a match last, typically? Are the Dioramas open yet?

      Dioramas are open aye. If you want I could make one for you and let you get the feel of it.

      Matches outside of Dioramas last a standard of 1 real life hour basically. 1 day in game time.

          I really, really, really want one on one duals in Ballista. So many time's I've gone to Square off with a friend and others come piling in. It's annoying as hell but what can you say?

            Funniest ballista-Diorama story. So usually in smaller Diorama matches, the one team camps the open field with the Herald/Pursuivant. The other team usually camps in the caves as you know (at least this is how I always see it on my server). Doing 3 vs 3 Level 10 cap (you can do lv10 cap and lv20 cap in Diorama), my team was SMN-BLM(me)-MNK. The other team was BLM-BLM-WAR. I stood at the end of the tunnel that connected our camp (the field with the Herald and Pursuivant) to the caves. Looking down I could see all standing in a tight group. We come up with this brilliant plan during the stalemate. The SMN on my team activated Astral Flow outside the cave so they didn't see. Then he casted Titan. I had a bunch of HP stuff in my temporary items. I ran down in the middle of their group like a Taliban with explosives on him yelling KILL ME, KILL ME! and just stood there and began spamming my Potion-ey items and the SMN runs in and uses Earthen Flow (Titan's Astral Flow move) in the middle of their group and it wipes their whole team out xD. Oh god my team laughed for 5 RL minutes so hard. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen.

                Lol whenever I'm in a group of people and I see an Avatar waltz over, I always get so nearvous XD I know crap could hit the fan any minute if they so choose to 2 hour.

                  SMNs are insane in uncapped Ballista/Diorama. In a 2-hour uncapped Diorama my friend Lyli hosted, my one and only death was via Garuda's Predator Claws ; ;. Went straight through Stoneskin and my HP bar.

                    True but like BLM, they extremely easily, if not more so. So it's kind of a Do or Die job, really have to plan your attacks.

                        Speaking of Ballista.....
                        does anyone know where I can find any info on what this quest/mission is all about?

                        So, I'm not completey sure, apart from that fact that I think it's that one where you grab a whole bunch of players together, (possibly an alliance, like you do with Eco warrior. I've taken part in this twice already in Sandy now, and found it very enjoyable too) hang around any outpost, and one player has to hand over a piece of armour or equipment or some such to one of the outpost guards, and then you all start beating the crap out of a whole horde of Orcs.

                        Is this basically what Ballista is, or have I just described the wrong quest/mission here? /blush.
