What is a good lvl to get a party going in the dunes

Me and my wife are currently lvl 12.We dont have our sub jobs yet but working hard to get them.Ive seen people want to party at lvl 10 in the dunes but I think it is to low of a lvl.We are currently leveling in the highlands.When would it be a good lvl to go into the dunes and seek a party?

Currently I have a Monk and my wife has a RDM.Will it be hard for us to get into a party or should I try to make my own.

10 is the normal for PTing, you can solo to 15 if you wish though. I, personally, have had enough with the first bit of soloing by lv 10 and want to PT.

While you can party, and possibly get better xp, stay as duo. You combination is good and will do better then most dune parties that spend half their time running around, or so other problem.

It also lets you aquire some more gil, as first timers sorely lack that it seems.

Ok tonight we will try the dunes with a party.Thx for the insight.I thought lvl 10 was to low to fight lvl 20 snippers(thats the main prey in the dunes for parties right?)

Not us we spent 2 weeks mining in bastok to get all our equipment and weapons and her spells for up to lvl 18.Plus we each have over 100 grand on us(darksteel sells crazy)Could me and the wife take on snippers and damsleflies at lvl 12?We are looking for the apron and worm or something for subjob quest in selbinia.I have a freind to help with ghouls for us.

Nope, at lvl 10, it's very tough battles for people that don't have sj or know what their doing (food, formation, etc)

Recomended lvl is lvl 12, and you're not fighting snippers yet, you fight lizards, and then goblins. (Bastok-valkrum dune ent, before passing the tunnel)

You should start your own PT as it give you certain control on pacing... Dune pts get very weird with people that don't know what they're there for.

Stay duoing in highlands till about lvl 13-15, when that's a good level to fight snippers.

If you have a fairly high level helper, Sub job is easier the Mhura version. They drop faster, but don't think about that till lvl 18, and see what items you need left since you have high level help.

Snippers full pt at lvl 14-15s

don't try flies till ooh... lvl 17. Usually lvl 15-16 pts fight them, but Flies hurt, and better to be safe and take it slowly in your career. I wouldn't recomend flies for people without subjobs, as it's a disavantage for the rdm who doesn't have poisona, and a mnk who lacks provoke. These little things can prove to be a difference in the end when things go wrong.

Yea the things in dunes are not monsters you want to solo/duo unless you are unable to find a party. At 16ish you can fight sand hares solo/duo but without a subjob they will be harder to beat. Since you two already party together it would make more sense to start your own party, as said, to have more control and make sure you level at the same pace.

I think at your level you can't really duo effectively without provoke ability. So if you're duoing, try stick to weaker monsters like wear and decent. Duoing stuff in high lands is ok. Also keep searching for members while you duo and don't hesitate to form a full group whenever you have a chance.

i usually start to find a pt around 10, soloing is boring, you should be able to find a party fairly easy, mnk do decent dmg and rdm good debuffer and back up healers

Yeah, dunes is alright you can do it at lv. 10 but with so many people there leveling can be a little slow. There are other areas then just Dunes were you can get good exp from.

They are lv. 12 without subs though. To bad the MNK doesn't have any ranged attacks if he did I'd of suggested the Worms in Maze of Shakrami, a duo taking them out at range is fairly easy and good EXP.

There's never a good level for going to the dunes. Although since its your first job it seems to be the place people want to go to learn. Personally I'd recomend the Maze of Shakrami over it anyday though.

Maze of Shakrami is good, but since MNK doesn't have a ranged attack you can't duo the worms you'll have to get something of a party setup for it.
