by cheating, i mean does it cross a moral boundary between right and wrong. i understand technically it's against the TOS but that's not what i'm asking your view on.

at what point are you doing something "wrong" in your opinion?

and even if you consider it wrong, would you use it?

its not really what you would call a virus its just something that can be activated by command and you not even know that you are a host attacking the server

ok but what i'm trying to find out is how you feel about using a windower, is it right or wrong? let's ignore the security implications of unsighned software running on your local machine, for the purpose of this thread

better not be running any IM clients either than. Those are far less secure (especially with people's habits) than the archbell windower.

The windower is extremely helpful. While im crafting or farming for that craft and need to look up the items i need, simply hit alt-tab and go find out. Need guild points and cant remember how to make the item? hit alt-tab and check it out. Bored while waiting for an invite? hit alt-tab and head to some forums and entertain yourself. The windower isnt creating any unfair advantage otehr than the new plug-ins that allow you to know your PT/Alliance members TP/MP which isnt really cheating. They should have the MP of alliance members in there anyway because having to sit and keep asking "are you ready yet?" "are you ready yet?" in any kind of mission/quest is annoying.

oh, so you're worried that the windower contains a trojan... it doesn't (if you download it from the official site).

I can't say if running a windower is morally correct or incorrect. It can't be correct because it isn't a decision that reflects on your morals because it's only a tool people use to make things easier. What you do while running is where the question of moral comes into play.

I have no problem with people using it, it hasn't caused problems in the past.

Jaywalking is against the rules too. How often do you do it?

One has to think in terms of "Letter of the law" and "Spirit of the law" and it's not always clear cut.

Like jaywalking, sometimes brings harms to both sides, and some time it helps both sides.

Don't be stupid and excerise good judgement. In the end if you get a ticket, take it like a man and call it bad luck. Cross the street...err I mean use windower for the right reasons.
