I heard updating WITHOUT using windower helps.

Also to the people who have to reinstall FFXI:

"After a recent update, POL tells me that I need to reinstall FFXI!

Make sure that your Registry has not been modified. Do the following:

1. Go to Start > Run...
2. type "regedit" and press Enter
3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PlayOnlineUS\
Find the folder named "InstallPath" or "InstallDirectory" (I forget the exact name).
4. Make sure that there are three entires there, 0001, 0002, and 1000. 0001 should point to the PlayOnlineViewer folder, 0002 should point to the TetraMaster folder, 1000 should point to your Final Fantasy XI Folder.
5. If any of these are missing, add them to the Registry again.

There are complaints all over the place that if you do uninstall, watch out because it wants to delete a lot of important Windows files... there are several people who have to reinstall windows now as well so watch out please.

You really shouldn't be using that windower anyway its clearly against the ToS and SE may start cracking down on it and ban people. They keep having to have all these updates to break that windower but the people that make these hacks keep fixing them. If there was no windower all these cheat programs and voke bots wouldn't work. These people that hack the game seem really bad to me just allows the game to be played in a way its not ment to be used.

And like many seem to love to state in situations similar to this. The windower is guilty by assosiation.
