Where Do Screenshots Go Please?

I've just been using the settings in the FFXl Gamepad Configuration Tool to set the "Take Screenshot" option to a numbered button on my gamepad. Click Here

Does anyone know which file/folder this option puts the screenshots in please?
I logged into the game to attempt to take some screens around Windurst, (using the button I set to take the screenshots with) then later when I looged back out, I went searching through my POL Screenshots in the online viewer and cannot find any shots I have taken from this evening's game. (even though I know where to find the screenshots in the online viewer)
There could only be 2 other options. Either they go to a custom folder which I have set up, (checked this, and still nothing. :confused or the really horrible, and very awkward option where you have to log out of the game to paste an image into a paint program, which is what I HATE the most! :sweat:

C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\PlayOnlineViewer\pub

in one of the home folders the screenshot folder will be in the folder named open

example : C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\PlayOnlineViewer\pub\home00\open\screenshots

Hello.

The screenshots in this folder you explained, (and I do have some which I took about a week ago, but I used the "Print Sreen" button on my keyboard)
are the same as those I can see in the actual play-online viewer itself.
I navigated to these folders where you said, but for some reason, I cannot see or find the screens I took this evening. :confused: :confused:

There maybe something a bit wrong or out of place, but I just have absoloutely NO clue as to what it is at the moment. /sigh

I could have a look round to see what the problem is, but it could take me a while though. :confused:

When you start up POL and login, the first menu you get to allows you to go to either Games, Navigator, Extras, and a few other options. Select Navigator, and then go to File Manager in the next menu that comes up. This is where all your screen shots are stored. Just select the screen shots folder in the upper right by clicking the two arrows until it's highlighting the second folder on the left. What you have to do now is e-mail the screenshots to yourself. This system bites in my opinion, but oh well. If you're on PC, I suggest you get Clipper or Fraps to take screenshots. Clipper is better, but both are now "trial versions" unless you pay for them >< If you can find an older version of clipper though that'd be best.

I have been through this, and have searched the folder in my POL Viewer, (where screenshots are held) and still nothing. /sigh
I used the button I set the option to ingame, but it's like nothing happened, and there was no response. :confused:

You mentioned e-mailing the screnshots to myself. Is this important in any way?
If so, then why? I sometimes get a message after or before I have logged in, telling me that my e-mail settings aren't correct, but I don't know how to sort this out.

I do have use another good program I can use to take screens with, (it's called Game Cam) but I do have a small issue with it, which I'm not sure how to fix right now. It's not really such a big problem that I cannot use the program either, but I just thought that since this is the first time I have tried using this feature in the FFXl Config table, that I would like to try and get some use out of it..... if only I knew what the problem was with it. /sigh :cool_shad

Failing all else open you playonline folder, press F3 and search for *.jpg.

I have Game Cam too, haven't tried it out yet though, a friend at work showed me it. Personally I normally use SnagIt for ingame screenshots, the FFXI screenshot utility isn't really very good for PC shots.

I have Game Cam too, haven't tried it out yet though, a friend at work showed me it. Personally I normally use SnagIt for ingame screenshots, the FFXI screenshot utility isn't really very good for PC shots.

FINAL FANTASY XI screenshot utility is alright. It gives a decent image not very high resolution but still good enough to make into a simple postcard or something.

Hey, guess what????
I managed to get the FFXl Screenshots Utility working this evening. YAAAYYYYY!!!
I found out what the problem was, and why I couldn't get it take any shots before.

While ingame, I had a bit of a think, and came up with this idea which a lot of you failed to tell me. Tut tut!

To take any screen shots, I have to press the "Scroll Lock Key" on my keyboard.
Now, I don't have a single CLUE how that works if you play on the PS2, but I play on PC, and in order for the POL Program/Viewer to process that I have taken any shots......
it's like I said. SIMPLE. (Scroll Lock Key)

Did anyone else know about this, or has used this facility and has had to use the Scroll Lock?
Why didn't anyone tell me... GOD DAMMIT!! Heh heh. :tongue:
Anyhow, I got it worked out myself now. /pats self on the back.

I looked back in my screenshots folder (not in the POL Viewer, but the other one. i.e. C:/Program Files/FFXl e.t.c) at the shots I took this evening, and 1 person said that they weren't very high quality, and yes, you're right.... they aren't either. (well not for a full size shot anyway) But they would be suitable to send as a postcard as someone said.

Okay, now that I have a general idea of what this feature is like, I think I am going to revert back to using my Game Cam. That takes some really good shots of high quality, and at full size too.
