Do low level characters get any benifit from the Exspansion Pack?

Me and my wife are both lvl 10 now and thinking of getting the exspansion pack chains of promothia.Does it have any low lvl benifits to go get it right now?

Where can I find out what have been in recent patches?Have any new crafting recipies been added?Im doing Leatherwork and shes doing Goldsmitthing.

We want to get the most out of the game and we arent exp whores or anything we are taking our time.

Thanks for any info or a link to point me in the right direction.

not much out of CoP for a lvl 10 i'm afraid.

as for patch info, you should be able to see all of them from within the POL viewer.

lvl 30 is when promyvions start although they are very hard so im guessing after lvl 30?

The real CoP missions start at 30 and progress in capped areas by 10 lvls. So after you beat the first chapter in CoP, which is capped at 30, you move on to the next chapter which is capped at 40 and so on till it gets to the uncapped areas. You can easily wait till 30-40 before ever needing to go into a CoP area so there should be no rush to buy it.

I would suggest getting it around level 30, it's a lot more convenient being able to jump right in with current equipment rather than having to buy new equipment. You'll go through a few cutscenes in Delkfutt, then Upper Jeuno, then up at the top of Jeuno. After that you'll have to defeat the three bosses at the top of the three Promyvions which are located at the shattered telepoints at each Crag. These areas are capped at thirty.

After that you'll be granted access to Lufaise, and the next set of missions will be capped at level fourty. You'll REALLY want to be level fourty for these missions.

or even later make sure you *want* to stick to FFXI for a long time before getting CoP. Their missions are not only hardcore but pretty expensive and very hardcore too imo...

The CoP missions will become easier over time. They'll either make the missions easier directly be editing monster levels, or they will become easier indirectly through the introduction of new items / spells. At the moment, a lot of them are too hard for people to want to repeat them, so there's a drought of players willing to help.

No doubt. It took me forever to finish promys. I finally found a set that got me through all 3. Unfortunately the set did not move on. A couple months later (yesterday), I finish PM2-3. Now I'm on 2-5. Looking at strategies for this, it looks like its gonna be extremely hard, and when I ask my LS if they would be interested in helping, everyone was saying no...

You can go into Carpenter's Landing from the San d'Oria side in the low teens. Mobs are around level 16-18.

You forget ENM is CoP only.

While yes don't invest in expansions if you're going to quit ffxi earily, CoP was made for all levels.

ENM is pretty hot right now, and while the provm ENM are bad, the lvl 40 ENMs are popular. Mostly because you can't sneak/invis pass provm. If husband and wife are playing together, add some people for ENM, and it can be lots of fun for non xp leveling things.

CoP missions are majorly hard due to the nature of capped Area +BCNM, but enm groups are getting bigger(too big I think at times) that people will redo missions for people who miss it, because they will have eq.

Still, people go into truma when you mention things like Mithra trackers, and Ultima. Those are crazy. I don't most people would want to fight the trackers again unless they have 2 SNMs ready to blow the cats to shreds with Astral Flow.

Now if only you get ENM style rewards for doing missions. That would spur many people to the end.
