          stupid comment.. but maybe they lessened the RNG's ranged dmg, so your ass can actually get in there and fight like normal melees... After all.. you do have weapon slots. And levae the pansy hiding away, far from the mob to the mages

          So therefore.. you need to work on both your WS for melee and ranged

            Every rng I can remember partying with melee'd whilst shooting. Its extra tp.
            If I ever used my tp to do a gust slash or viper bite my party would kick my ass and mpk me. Why do a ws on dagger and do 30 dmg when I can do a ranged ws and do triple digits?

                please lvl ranger to 75 then talk like this , really do you want ranger do dmg like drg ? wtf !! ammo cost millions , i'm sorry but really this update didnt help anyone,

                They're going to calculate ranged attack damage similarly to melee attack damage now. Before, ranged attacks were calculated differently. They had a certain "armor piercing" effect, and the monster's level did not affect the damage much.

                Now it sounds like arrows, bolts, and bullets will be treated like melee attacks, subject to the same defense and level based damage reductions as, say, a polearm.

                e.g. After the nerf, if a DRG had a 80 dmg polearm, and a RNG had a 30 dmg bow and 50 dmg arrows, and the DRG had the same Attack as the RNG's Ranged Attack (and same Archery skill as Polearm skill, etc.), and they both were the same level and had comparable stats, then both would do the same damage to the same mob.

                As it is currently, the RNG would do more damage than the DRG under these circumstances, despite all factors being equal as in the example above. After the nerf, their damage should be on equal grounds

                  Blah blah blah.

                  S-E sounds like they're making rangers live up to their names by forcing them to fight (gasp)... at RANGE. What a concept.

                  This should make party dynamics with rangers pretty interesting actually, since there are already 2 position-oriented jobs (Bard and Thief). It should add some complexity to the ranger job rather than just spamming /ra all the time.

                  The people that will really suffer from this are bards. It's already hard enough as it is to get people to stand still for 8 seconds to complete a song. Thieves are already on the Bard's most hated list due to their constant need to change position, and with this change it wouldn't surprise me if rangers also begin annoying bards across Vana'diel in a similar fashion.

                    honestly i'm not worried at all now that i think about it, i doubt it will take the ninjas that long to adjust to the new patch. hell i mean we do have the gear to hold hate anyways. i mean if your using eminity macros. plus wearing some eminity. after the voke. by the time the hate spike goes down voke is back up. perfectly timed elemental spells, an debuffs. losing hate in an exp pt wont be nothing different then it is now. THE ONLY PROBLEM MIGHT BE HOLDING HATE LOSELY. but he will figure that out fast anyways.

                    as for sky mobs this dont effect my op. "let the plds tank it an die, ill just go in an clean up his mess"

                    Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

                      ehh this update hurt Rangers more than ninjas :

                      i was thinking , now the best job is blm and smn for end-game dmg , no more rng , that's sick

                          This isn't a nerf and if it was Rangers have nobody to blame but themselves. They've gone long enough as the dominant DD in the whole game, totaly eclipsing every single other job. You had your fun at the top, it's time to come down a bit.

                              Well, I guess this empowers all the melee DD in two ways:

                              The first one is obvious, ranged dmg will probably take a hit against higher level mobs; no more lvl 62 arrowburn dhamel-killing-PTs in Bibiki.

                              The second is the utsusemi hate adjustment. To me, this doesn't make nin tank inferior, instead it forces people to adapt a little. One of the advantages that I've always believed a melee DD has over a rng is that they can sub thf for hate placement. Perhaps now on HNMs all the melee DD have a role as hate placement for the blink tanker.

                              Given the hate nerf, it'll probably be easier for a melee DD to turn the mob for a nice SATA back onto the nin. Like someone else mentioned, Rngs will probably become more effective fighting at a moderate distance from the mob, making them a less ideal choice for turning the mob to plant SATA.

                              Going in a little deeper, you can take a look at the renkei chart. IMHO, the two most effective jobs for planting hate with SATA are Drk (because even if SA fails, Soul Eater allows the WS to do good dmg) and Thf (because of Assassin). To make Light using Shark Bite or Ground Strike, It's up to a war or drg (two of the most unloved jobs) or sam to be their partner. If you want to make Darkness with Spiral Hell, then there's monk and drg. Evisceration? Sam, or a War with a GAxe.

                              To further reinforce this, every one of those partner jobs has something to help them deal with the short time that they have hate. Wars can sub nin for utsu, or make use of defender; Sams have Third Eye, Mnks have an assload of hp and counter and guard. Drgs.... eh, I guess my theory fails here. All of these jobs can still make use of blink and stoneskin from a smn though.

                              I'm not sure, but I believe that the hate from the renkei gets passed on with TA as well.

                                A handful of RNG I've PT'd with have stayed back with the mages... which is why I said that.. although it is a very very small tiny minority that do that.
