  • OMFG! SE is nerfing NIN and RNG!!!

    From Playonline:

    ---

Changes to Utsusemi and Ranged Attacks

The next version update will make battle more strategic for players who use Utsusemi or ranged attacks.

    *Changes to the ninjutsu "Utsusemi"
In the next update, the player's enmity will decrease when a shadow image created by Utsusemi is absorbed by an attack.

    *Changes to Ranged Attacks
Soon, the distance of the monster from the player will determine the damage and accuracy of ranged attacks. This determination will vary from weapon to weapon, as will the ideal distance for maximum damage. In addition, the higher the monster's level is with regard to the player, the less damage will be dealt with a ranged attack. This system is similar to that of melee attacks, but the difference in damage will not be as great.

A score of new material and exciting new improvements awaits in the next version update in mid-July, so keep checking this site for details as the time approaches!

"Exciting new improvements..."??? WTF is up your butt SE!?

They better lower Tiamat's Damage output and fix CoP Missions then.

On a side note : I'm fully for the changes, SE just needs to remember... that they designed encounters around this stuff after they realized their mistake.

dude~, Ninja is too over power compared to other jobs , they should nerf it , and do not forget Ninja was NOT meant tobe tank from beginning , it is Paladin.
About ranger , it does not really change , you still get max Dmg with right distance . it makes Rng job more fun
        gotta love this upgrade

So that's why RNG dish out so much damage. Maybe other DD will get a look in now.

I might even bo back to my DRG.

            pff thats not a nerf.

You bunch of cry babies. Personally I think SE needs to make it so PLD can tank more. I hate having to watch PLDs kite.

i wonder, will rangers need to stand further, or closer to battle to be more effective.

              Any thoughts?

                Change != Nerf

why is every change followed closely with cries of NERF NERF!
it happens every update - people get thier panties in a knot about shit they know nothing about and it turns out to be way less of a deal then people were making it out to be.

Most changes make sense when you actually think about them. The original "NERF" of Thf - changed the ability to suit the description - unless w/e ur attacking is blind it's hard to be sneaky coming in from the side. Sa is forgiving providing ur behind the mob there's a good 10degree window from 90

SE is making these changes (and i'm just guessing here) to Nin because the original intention was for them to be rng attackers - with magic and shurikens. Because they have turned into tanks, SE needs to modify the job to allow all tanks to be equal. PLD's lose hate everytime they get hit too so it makes sense that getting hit with shadows up would shed some hate since ur not actually evading the hit - it's merely being absorbed. This will not NERF nin's - it's not gonna be a total reset of hate everytime a shadow is absorbed, the sky is not falling, the world is not gonna end.

What it will do is change the way Nins play the job. They will need to be aware of their timings (which the good ones already are), they're gonna prolly need to change their gear - for more enimity and better damage (which the good ones have already done). I think it was on alla someone said "an evasion nin is gonna be better than a hasted nin" which I dont believe is gonna happen. Evading a hit does dick all for ur hate - a hasted nin will do more dmg than an evasion nin - which means a hasted nin will generate more hate than an evasion nin. My good friend is Nin and they already play like this update is in place - they don't NEED a thf to keep hate - it helps; but a thf helps a pld keep hate too even if they don't NEED it.

As for the rng change - i like it - it looks like it will make it so that there will be actual skill involved in playing rng (no offense intended to the rngs that actually play their job - but the recent crop of AFK rngs really burns me) and levels the playing field. Like I said before - the sky isn't falling, the world isn't gonna end because of the update.

Lol, they didn't nerf RNG, but I bet you the update will still piss off the 1000 RNGs we have on our server

Hate to say this, but I think it's somewhat appropriate:

                    Told you so~ :spin:

I'll quote someone from Allakazahm which pretty much sums up the situation IMHO:

There are 15 playable job classes in this game, not just 3. The other 12 don't disappear when you spawn Kirin. People have said "It's not the game. It's the community that needs to change." which I still agree with.

Well, Community, you've had a lot of time to change your ways of playing and thinking, and you chose not to.
You chose to ignore the fact that DRG's are up to par with other melee jobs, if not surpassing them. You chose to ignore that SAM can gain TP equivalently to RNG when used safely and properly. You chose to ignore that a NIN tank is just as much about holding hate as it is about Evasion, which led to the multitude of half-ass NIN's without their spells and shooting to 75 because of quick invites.

So, because the community didn't change, the game had to change. Think of this next time you try to exploit the imbalance of certain jobs of this game. Like the mule in Jeuno selling an Emperor's Hairpin for 200k, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.

[By the way, SMN had a damage nerf a while back, but I don't remember anyone reacting negatively to that. Still no love for SMN, except by anti-WHM NIN's.]
Although I have to say I'm wrong and my "opponents" were right in another regard: My faith in S-E has been restored.

Now all we need is something to deal with the Refresh (RDM monopoly vs. nonexistant BRD) situation, which I'm newly confident that S-E will sooner or later address as well, for the same reason explained in the quote above.

Less NIN tanking and more PLD.
                      Now thats welcomed back.

I was starting to get rusty.

They're aren't any good shurikens to use so thats kind of pretty much wrong. ;3

I agree with the above post fully, I also hated how people have started to think they NEED this or that job inorder to level....I was in a PT that sat there for 30 mins waiting for a NIN to start seeking, when there where two PLDs seeking at our leve. I found that very stupid and should never happened. The two jobs that where supost to be tanks where PLD and then WAR as a backup tank, NIN was never made to be a tank, and I think this fix should have come long ago.

Just to let you know, there are jobs that would like to lose hate when they're having blink absorb their attacks. i.e. RNG.

And concering the RNG "nerf," it actually makes sense to employ such a system, considering actual archery becomes more difficult at longer distances. I'm sure some of the more die-hard RNG's would welcome a chance to seperate themselves from the rest of the RNG by parsing various distances when attacking the mob.
