About the only enemies that non-RNG can't really hurt much are Nidhogg and Aspidochelone.

As far as end-game goes, RNG are really only superior at King Behemoth and Kirin since those are kiting battles where regular melees usually can't get close enough to attack in melee very often (exception made for Kirin when casting Quake, but this still holds true in general).

Regarding Utsusemi, I doubt they'll do much more than take a nominal amount of enmity away on a blinked hit, which just means you have to make more use of those ultra-fast elemental ninjutsu (what a surprise). As others have posted here, this is probably the most likely scenario, and if it is the case, then it shouldn't affect good NINs in XP parties at all, and probably won't affect good HNM tanking NINs all that much either.

We all know its definately not uncommon for a mob to turn to RNG after he does a WS right? So, if for example, RNG has to stand a distance away from the mob to do decent damage, it's going to move all over the place making renkei extremely difficult for a melee job who needs to WS after the RNG, not to mention it will be extremely annoying anyway. AND with ninja keeping hate will be somewhat more difficult it could be a horrible mess.

Yes, and No. Since we don't know how much hate a lost shadow steals, it's still theortical, but it's probably minor, as programing wise, it's better to just set it to one amount then variable amounts(just too buggy and balance hazardous) So like Ice mage said, it's probably minimal.

So in XP pts, it's less sticky, but not that much different, as a XP fight shouldn't take more then 2 minutes, where assuming you provoke every 30 seconds, A nin wouldn't loose hate very much except, during SC, which is what happens now anyway. A bit more shaky, but not that bad...mostly for reckless BLMs.

Basically a decreasing Nin hate will only largely effect Kite like fights, or very long NM fights where sooner or later the counter for a mage or DD will over power nin hate + Provoke hate.

The longer a battle drags, the more the Nin has to battle to keep up enmity.

I've seen DRK, WAR and SAM tear Nidhogg a new one. I haven't really been involoved in a Aspidochelone Fight for over half a year, so no idea how well these same people do against Apisd.

Basically i read to page three then got bored of all the "oh, nin is being nerfed!" and " RNG won't be able to deal as much damage"

Basically, none of you know what either of these changes will do until the changes ACTUALLY take place.
So why don't u lot just wait and stop fretting about it.
You never know, NIN could now be completely useless and unable to contain hate (even more). Ranger might actually do more damage close up? Who know?
All i am saying is, WAIT TILL THE UPDATE!!!!!!

And don't forget blink bands and curaga earrings. :spin: Some of the many new toys put in by SE aren't being used to the fullest extent, imo. Granted, those items won't probably be used in regular exp PTs, but during NM/HNM fights, our PLDs use these items to keep hate and give them extra protection. Perhaps NIN should learn to use them more often to keep hate after the patch too. Use curaga earring after mob's AE...there's your enmity for you. A crapload of it!

curaga earring is PLD/WHM only XYTHALIA!!! =P

anyway i dont think the NIN nerf will be too bad.....like most ppl said, itll seperate the bad nin's from the good ones. Also, NIN will more then likely have to focus more on evasion/enimity gear (yasha gear* or however u spell it) from now instead of attack/str/accuracy. */em hopes for better gear for nin post patch*

the rng nerf gets me kinda mad tho...not the distance=more or less acc/dmg but the level difference between mobs and rng.

kinda sucks that SE is toning down dmg cuz its basically what the RNG job is, pure DD. Seperating RNG from MNK/DRK/DRG/WAR....RNG pay to do dmg, and pay quite a lot(ammo) i honestly hope the dmg difference from now and post patch will not be too much....id hate to have spent so much time/gil on a job just so i can do dmg like a regular melee.

I don't believe it's a move to shift NIN towards a DD role as some people are saying. If that were true then SE would have introduced Throwing WSs and cheap Shurikens.

It did say the dmg reduction on higher lvls for rng's would be less than other melee's. I certainly hope its severely less. Everyone keeps saying its only putting other dd's on the same playing field as rng's. Last time I checked, other dd's didnt have to throw gil at the mob to do dmg. SE said they listen to forums and such on what needs to be fixed etc. Sounds like they finally gave in to all the pissing and moaning about how rngs do more dmg than others. I'm probably blowing this out of proportion and it really wont make much of a difference in dmg, seems every time a new patch is announced and a job is changed like this, everyone kinda freaks and expects the worst. Here's hoping for the best and minimal dmg change for rng's.

On the other hand I'm really looking forward to judging distance and such in fights, sounds pretty cool.
