Cutscenes are scripted events that take place in the game. It basically shows an area outside of the worlds, places in the actors, and orders them to move. It's not like a real cutscene...more like those times in a game where your character moves around and talks to other characters without you telling them to.

Right picture is Diablos...pretty sure it is. Looks too thin around the chest to be Bahamut.

Does anyone have the real facts behind the Tonberry's Goddess? I'm a big Tonberry fantatic and the inclusion of their goddess in the story has me intrigued. All I know of is that their Goddess (I cannot type her name for the life of me x.x; ) was supposedly more beautiful than Altanna, so she was cursed and turned into a beast...at least that's the way the Tonberrys tell it

        Have you done ZM4 yet?

Also here's a closer shot of that painting of something (looks like Bahamut to me) over Al'Taieu. It's from somewhere in Chapter 2 of CoP.

I played this game for over a year and never noticed the paintings ... I should stop focusing so much on leveling o.O...

          Those paintings look great...

Yes, but I would imagine that there'd be a way to trick the game into playing whatever cutscene you want (including those you have no seen).

Just some major clarificiation on some points of interest...
              SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
              SPOILERS
              SPOILERS

              1. THE PAINTINGS: The paintings are part of a collection "borrowed" from the San d'Oria church by the Cardinal. This is why later in CoP you learn that both she and Prishe are wanted criminals by the church of sandy. The two paintings pictures are 1) Tulia 2) Bahamut- the gatekeeper hovering over the city of Al'tieu. It was there that the gate to paradise was opened and bahamut laid a beat down on the Zilart.

              2. THE GODS: I gotta say I'm interested in this "goddess" the tonberry worship. The problem is that the tonberry are nothing more than mutations caused by the "power overload" on the reactors during the assualt on Fei'yin. So I'm pretty sure like most of the "myth" in the game, it's all total bs created over time to cover a long forgotten past. The reason the Tonberry are so pissed off at Altana is that in their service to the Dawn Maidens (when they were the kuluu) they did in fact stop the zilart from entering paradise but as I mentioned their entire race that was not killed in the process was horribly mutated..
so I guess you can see how they'd be alittle pissed off.
HOWEVER... it is becoming more clear that some of the myth that appeared created is actually horribly real.

              3. CUTSCENES: Actually there is a way to play them over and over and over..
there are bards is towns, which for the price of 10 gil will play any scene from that "zone". Also, in non-safe (anywhere you can killed ) areas there are tracks which if you trade a item to (you keep the item) you will get a goblin to pop up and she you cs from that zone. They are usually at the beginning of zones, but the ones in towns are at random points..
example: the bard for the chataeu in sandy is located in the chataeu by the exit.

4: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GRAGS AND CRYSTALS:
I'm noticing alot of confusion between the issues of crystal location and crag locations..
Crags are nothing more than power relays created by the zilart to transfer energy to their giant "key" (Tu'lia).
              The crystal locations are
              1. Holla
              2. Dem
              3. Mea
              4. Pso'xja
              5. Al'tieu
When the gateway was forced closed after the great battle between bahamut, the avatars, the zilart, and the kuluu/dawnmaidens (think of it as a royal rumble) the crystal at Al'tieu was then the first crystal corrupted by the emptiness..
              BUUUUUUUUUt..
there is a problem in that the emptiness did indeed first appear in Tenzen's homeland.. which opens up the question..why?
anyway, as for fei'yin and the other locations of zilart creation..
they are either power stations, palaces, relay points, or gateways..

Ok, looking at the pictures, the first one seems to be Altana, surrounded by the crystals... eight crystals actually. Which leads me to believe that these are the protocrystals, not the mothercrystals. Perhaps it's Altana and the Elemental Avatars descending to Vana'diel?

The second seems to be Eald'narche, Kam'lanaut, and Yve'noile, Eald'narche is sitting on a throne inside what appears to be a palace, perhaps the Celestial capital? Yve'noile stands behind him, which leads me to believe she had some sort of advisory position to the royal family, Eald'narche certainly recongized her in the final Zilart cutscene.

The third looks like Tu'Lia floating over Ro'maeve... pretty self explanatory.

The fourth is either Eald'narche or Grav'iton. I think it's Grav'iton since the person has black hair and Grav'iton's facial tattoes. She seems to be holding a glowing staff of some sort, perhaps it's a painting of the destruction of Fei'Yin? I'm not sure.

And the final one there I believe, is Starry Night, by Van Gogh... I have no idea why it's in the picture.

That fourth painting in the lower right looks a lot like that flashback scene you see with the five crystal warriors and Yve'noile after PM7-5, where they're holding back some kind of energy (perhaps Emptiness) from crystals in the walls.

The Starry Night-esque painting is from the quest where you put up one of Angelica's paintings in a different room in Uggalepih. A monster promptly shows up and declares it hideous and tears it to shreds. Then you smite the monster.

Holla, Dem, and Mea crags (arks) are on top of their mothercrystals. The northlands mothercrystal is somewhere under Xarcabard/Zvahl, not under Fei'Yin. I believe Fei'Yin is some unrelated Zilart structure (it's a little big to be a crag too, and the interior looks nothing like what we can see of the interiors of the other crags, aside from being made of cermet), and the crag that originally housed the northlands mothercrystal is all but gone when it was destroyed (except for the room around the mothercrystal, accessible via Pso'Xja).

Similarly the fifth mothercrystal is in/under the palace in Al'Taieu, and thus certainly nowhere near Ro'Maeve. That doesn't mean Fei'Yin and Ro'Maeve weren't tied in with the crystal line (they likely were), but they weren't arks.

The five-pointed thing in the sky above the picture of Bahamut attacking Al'Taieu (or something), is something you can see in the sky of Al'Taieu anyway. It's this nebulously circular thing with 5 equidistant spots along the outside. So that's just part of Al'Taieu's geography and not any map of Ru'Aun or anything. (Lumoria, like Tu'Lia, seems to be not surprisingly based heavily around five-way symmetry.)

The only curious part is that the painting of the crags and Delkfutt's and Tu'Lia does, in fact, show five crags rather than three. Though perhaps it's for simplicity's sake of representing the setup of the crystal line, rather than niggling over details of what sort of structure is actually housing the mothercrystals.

The emptiness in the unaccessible outlying places (mithra homeland, eastern empire) has a very specific reason, and it's not just some random occurrence. It's for the same reason that emptiness appears around the mothercrystals themselves, except it's a more gradual and indirect effect. Suffice it to say, emptiness is the lack of light, so when light is taken away from the mothercrystals ... emptiness appears. And there are *two* causes of light being taken from the mothercrystals.

I know that, I was just hinting at the idea of possible just viewing the ending scenes to Promathia without having to wait the 4-6 months or whatever it will be until Square stops dragging it out and unlocks the rest of CoP. The scripted sequences are probably buried deep in the .dat files though, so it's quite possible I guess.

Does anyone know where I can view the cutscene for ZM4 again? I tried in Norg, and the Temple of Uggalepih, but both of those were no good. Please don't tell me that I have to get into the Sacrificial Chamber again by lighting those lamps just to replay that awesome cutscene ...

Didn't I see a link to a program a while back, simlilar to the modelviewer, that would let you load up zones out-of-game and fly around them without restriction?
