  • Question about Weapon of trial points

I'm trying to find some infomation on how many points you get from:

    Solo WS

    Starting LV1
    Closing LV1

    Starting LV2
    Closing LV2

    Starting LV3
    Closing LV3

My friend said starting a SC doesn't give you any points so I'm worried since I've been starting LV3 SC. I've looked through many NA and JP sites but I can't find some concrete info.

PS: allakazham and mystertour is not concrete enough for me.

If you have a LV70+ job: was this not clear enough "I'm trying to find some infomation on how many points"

      If you don't have a LV70+ job..............

I solo'd all 300 of my Dagger WSNM points, but ended Fusion for Sword. I believe it's 1 point for soloing any WS [includes starting a chain], 3 points for ending a level2, and 5 points for ending a level3.

Doing a weapon skill on it's own - one point.

Creating a level one skillchain effect (Impaction, Liquification, Detonation, Scission, Reverberation, Compression, Transfixtion and Induration) - two points.

Creating a level two skillchain effect (Fusion, Gravition, Fragmentation and Distortion) - three points.

Creating a level three skillchain effect (Light and Dark duh) - five points.

You only get the points I listed if it was you closing the skillchain. For example, if you were trying to earn "Blade:Ku" and were doing a skillchain of Cross Reaper>Blade: Ten then you would get five points. If you were doing it the other way around (Blade: Ten>Cross Reaper) you would only get a single point because it wasn't you closing.

Working latents off trial weapons for quest weapon skills can get very frustrating indeed, especially if you cannot create Light or Dark. I personally have seven quest weapon skills and was only able to create Light and/or Dark for three of them so be sure to have good friends and make it fun. Do it while camping an NM with a drop you or a friend wants or has something that can be sold and split up. Novv the Whitehearted is a favourite for me while working latents.

Hope this clears it up for ya.

Yeah thanks, that's what I thought but I was LV72 when I started my decimation and now I'm LV73 and still haven't finish the trial points yet....so I'm getting a little worried.

PS. Thanks for the info on steel cyclone, russta. XD

Note that "closing" a skillchain doesn't mean you have to be the last one.

If you did a 3 WS skillchain that went from Fusion > Light for example, you would get 1 point if you opened the skillchain, 3 points if you made the Fusion effect occur, or 5 points if you made the Light effect occur.

For the benefit of Ayakino or anyone else reading that's not sure on what this relates to...

The "last" WSes for each weapon are quested (not counting the WS on the fully powered up Relic weapons).

So, for instance, Evisceration for dagger, Savage Blade for sword, Ground Strike for Greatsword, Spiral Hell for Scythe, etc.

To get them, you have to meet two requirements:
1.) Be level 71+ so you can equip the trial weapon
2.) Have a certain level of skill in the weapon (varies, either 230, 240, or 250 depending on weapon).

If you meet that criteria you talk to the right NPC and they give you a <weapon> of Trials. This weapon has a Latent effect on it, like an Elemental resistance and some HP. It's also got 300 points on it (to start) which are removed via doing WS. That's what the question related to, since closing higher level skillchains uses more points...more points per WS means faster removal of those 300 points.
Once the points are gone, the Latent effect no longer takes effect, IE, you equip it and no longer get 20 extra HP.

At that point, you go trade the weapon back to the NPC, get a key item, go to the appropriate ??? to fight the Weapon Skill NM (WSNM). Once you beat that, you hit the ??? again for another key item and go back to the NPC who "teaches" you the WS.
