That "JP CoP Info" is highly presumed as fake. but if it does turn out real, then it'd make everyone's day. I'm trying to see the video they released tonight but my computer isn't wokring with me. lol

But I'm not "jealous" or anything of SMN being overpowered or getting Bahamut. It'd be a nice addition. (I've played SMN and know how glitched it is.) I just highly doubt they would add Bahamut as an avatar. With Fenrir he was said to be an avatar in the Tribune (Most times people don't read these.) And a few NPCs throughout windurst mentioned him I believe. But Bahamut is only presumed as an Avatar because he was in all the old games. For all we know he could very well be a new summon or a lvl 200,000,000 HNM. I just wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. This is in fact Square-Enix they like to try new things with each of their FF games (FFXI being the biggest of which they have experimented) So perhaps they won't make Bahamut an avatar, and instead make him a foe.

Get on POL and before you hit Play on the FFXI main thing...click the CoP Link. Watch that video...during it (near the end) it says "And the bringer of the comming apocalypse" or something like that, then you can see Bahamut...I'm guessing Bahamut is some big boss fight...you know..like... Elda'narche(sp?)...but..maybe not that big.

If you think SMNs are only buffers/healers in FFXI, you're just ignorant. For one, look at the god damn two hour. It's a bit ridiculous in damage. And then at 65 or 70 with the blood pacts, SMN has the capability to out damage a RNG without getting hate like a RNG would.

Of course, I'm not trying to say and justify that this means Bahamut is going to be a summon. Just trying to correct you peoples saying that SMNs don't do damage in FFXI. They do, just takes a long time. :X

And from everything I've seen, it looks more like Bahamut is a mission fight than a summon.

Lets review one of the first scenes in the new promo video.

After the warning, after the first scene we see a group of NPCs walking up to what looks to be one giant purple crystal. I could be totally wrong (as we have all seen already :spin: ) but if you look at the crystal as it turns you can kinda see something in it. Something big and I think it could be bahamut.

Why?

Well the crystal is purple and as far as i can remember thats always been a colour associated with him.

I know alot of people think its portal to somewhere else but if you look carfully you can see the crystal glimmer.

Could this be Bahamut's proto crystal?

Ill leave that up to you guys to decide.

Thing that doesn't seem to be mentioned is the possibilty of Bahamute being both a mission battle that leads to opening another quest to obtain Bahamute as a Summons.

Something along the lines of Bahamute being awakened but was to powerful at the time to harness as a Summons. Battle with the airship armada ensues after defeating Bahamut is in a weakened state at which another battle can be done for a Summoner to get him.

Food for thought anyway.

Bahamut has been my favorite summon in all FF games but I sincerely hope they won't put Bahamut as a Summon because of the one thing I hate most about online games: balance.
Why do people always compare their character with others'?
Having Bahamut as a summon would either be too weak to feel like he's the King of Dragons or everybody would end up playing summoner and nothing else.

Well im guessing the old King of Sandoria (The dragoon) probally is tied into the story with Bahamut.

Perhaps his wyvern turned bad and became what we know as bahamut? - maybe he died trying to kill it? who knows
But Bahamut HAS to be tied in with the Dragoon story, it just has to be... Wether its directly or not who knows.

May I remind you all of the HUGE Dragon Spine which is part of the Dragoon quest... Possibly this is tied to the story with Bahamut?

Lots of possibilities and you have to look at it from many angles!

Very excited non the less, cant wait to see what theyve done with Bahamut story plot wise anyway

So now after watching the japanese version of the video (1 minute more of stuff, duh they always get better treatment) I noticed that in one of the scenes you can see what looks like its Nag'Molada or someone in that Zilart robes is standing with his back to the crystal. From this angle you get a much better view of it. Also it looks as if the crystal has been activated and is no longer dorment like it was in the begining of the video (light shining all around it what not). the crystal is also empty now (clearly something is in it at the begining).

What do I think?

I think our "hero" group of NPCs attempt to peacefully wake up Bahamut but the "bad guys" get in the way and this wakes bahamut up. He wakes up in a bad mood. I assume there are a few missions to capture him or calm him down. Once you do you could possibly obtain him as an avatar.

but thats SOOOOOOO far out there and I bet any money Im on the right track but going the wrong way.

The fact is no one really knows whether Bahamut will be a avatar or a HNM, if he will be a NPC even. All we really know is that he in the game, we can speculate that he will be a summon. Now here is somthing interesting that happend a few weeks ago, keep in mind what supposedly SMN said. Whether it's true or not, who knows, but it kinda fits in into this whole Bahamut story.

Personally i think he will be nothing more than part of the mission/quests. It looks like, from watching the video, Yarr is the closest to a good theory.

Looks like the "badguys" wake up Bahamat and piss him off..... We, as players, need to put him back into his crystal. You can see while watching the video some kind of green net catches him. Who knows who its from? I think the storyline will be about putting the lock down on Buhamat and stopping his awesome power being used for evil (Like Anima in FFX).
Dont see SE being so nice as to actually listen to the players and give them the chance to control Bahamat...thats just too much customer service for SE.
