Yes, there abosolutely, positively are NM hunting bots and they are used. Most of my knowledge on them comes from an old LS member who was an importer and was fairly fluent in JP. The last time I talked with him about it was before my hiatus (i.e. before I left for the Dominican Republic in March) and I haven't learend anything knew since I got back.
He said that there are hunting bots in JP that essentially work (on the user end) like the advanced fishing bots where you enter in the name of the mob you are searching for and the mode of baiting you want to use and run it behind FFXI. I'm not too sure how it works on the code side but I'm guessing it does act on the info from the server before it is visable. Even if everyone has an equal chance at such a spawn, it would seem to be an advantage to have a computers reaction time.
My LS mate had said he was going to DL one of the bots just to check it out but I don't know if he ever did (as an importer he had millions of gil from BCNM's when the US PC version came out so it wasn't much of a priorety). But it does certaily irk me, after camping for a Monster Signa and Mary's Horn for about a month streight before I left that these programs are in use.. oh well...

            <-- thats exactly right ....

another (faster) method to voke/pull/claim mee deggi is .. go in a corner adn set you camera so that you will just see the spawn area (try it with /targetnpc and if you target a normal mob, change the camera settings till its perfect) than use str+g and spamm the enter button on voke or chi blast...
i heard chi blast is as fast as voke but got a higher range ... is that right ?

Maybe so, but the thing is how can the mob be not claimed and you are facing it, and for somre reason voke does not work, I know I get out voked, thats ok, used to it from pulling days, but when provoke error fills your screen and the mob in unlcaimed and you cannot do anything about it puzzled me
I know who you are talking about with Kotes, but im not gonna name names becuase I dont have 100% proof

I say SE should just use my splendid solution to these NM camping problems (and bots).

Just make it so if someone is standing in the <pos> square of a NM spawn for 1 hour or more without zoning between, then they should lose exp acording to dying. This in intervalls of 10 mins.

I'd love to see those botters get back after 8 hours and notice they have deleveled 15 levels.

Sure, you should get a warning about 10 min before, so you can run and zone to avoid losing exp.

Even if the botters did improve their bots to simply run around between the <pos> of a NM spawn and the <pos>es outside of it to avoid this, they'd not have a 100% chance of claiming the NM.

*Hopes SE reads the post* ^^

that's a retarded idea since most HNM camping (or even Valk. Emperor camping) requires over 1 hour, and you always have competetion.

So you spend 5 minutes running out of the sqare and some random passerby grabs the NM.

Splendid... what about the people that don't know about a NM spawn and is standing in the square of the "NM spawn spot" and are just leveling?

Square already made this game inconvenient enough as is, don't need more stupid things to make this game even harder.

You can provoke things before they 'show up', dont look at the screen for the nm to show look at the dots on the radar you can get it way faster
"So there was this pun making contest right. The guy said allright, you write down ten puns and send them in and we'll see if you can win. Well I wrote them all down and waited until the final day of the contest to see if any of my ten puns would win. But no pun in-ten-did."

Some of those "Command line errors" are the result how FFXI deals with macroes. Just because it SEEMS like a normal "There is nothing there" error, doesnt mean that it is. There is actually a delay between macroes and the majority of those errors are due to that delay.

My guess is that they may have an out-of-FFXI macro program (easy to get your hands on) that has a functional /target "NM Name" type of call in it. We all know that can't be done in FFXI itself, but I see little reason why an external macro program couldn't do it.
                        There will be cake.

I already said there would be a warning. So no people that are there leveling will get hurt. (if they don't take 10 mins or so to kill their mob)

And I just assumed NMs where supposed to be something you randomly bumped into and not something that you sit and farm all day. My bad then.

But I guess I did miss some things. Like having a duo or something where one always stay around the spawn when someone else runs to zone.

Oh well, I'm looking forward to my high level days when I'll fight with 10 other full alliances over the same HNM spawn. Will be terrific fun.

FYI /targetnpc /ja provoke <t> has a slight lag to it.

tab /ja provoke <t> is faster. It takes alot more practice and skill to get the hang of it. Theres also a little trick to it.

My LS has beaten out other Japanese Linkshells for may HNMs and Lag has little to do with it.

Yes theres a little lag, but cmon, you really need to learn how to stop crying.

You shouldn't be using macros, they will always have a lag to them.

Try Ctrl+J, hover over Provoke and keep jamming the enter button. I know another guy said that, but he said str-g >_>

So I decided to resay it. It's the secret to camping all NMs, I've gotten Barricader/Breacher every single time I've been there with it. And I always get it provoked before it spawns.

You'll know it's working because it'll spam your screen.
