How the hell do you read that?
Fusion can be done by starting with Burning Blade (Liquefaction) and then doing Combo (Impaction). Ok, that one makes sense, but many of the other skills that similarly should chain according to this chart don't work in other charts. Also, what does it mean if a WS has two elements?
Anyway, damn confusing and hard to read. :dead:

The way the game decides which renkei a combination of weaponskills is going to produce by checking taking the first elemental property of the first skill, then checking it against all the properties of the second skill. If none match, it moves to the second property on the first skill, and repeats the process. If a combination produces movement on that chart, the effect it lands on is produced. If it moves outward on the chart (IE, Detonation > Compression, Transfixion > Scission, Liquefaction > Impaction, or Induration > Reverberation) you get a Level 2 effect instead of the Level 1 effect indicated.
The level 3 effects are formed by chaining a weaponskill with a Level 2 property after the appropriate other Level 2 property (Fusion <> Fragmentation, Distortion <> Gravitation). You can create the first Level 2 property with either another 225+ weaponskill, or by making a level 2 chain normally.

By the way, I don't think it's possible to make two L2 chains in a row. I guess a skill level 225 or higher WS is necessary for L3 chains.

This is also one of my favorite renkei charts, primarily because it makes it easy to find what effects which weapon skills produce. However, it can't be printed easily, so I can't use it while I'm playing.
So overall, Aden's Renkei Chart is still the one I like the most, because it's the one I can most easily access and use.

Wow, it took me a little while to fully understand this chart, but assuming it is accurate this is the finest chart I've seen yet of skillchains.
I cross-referenced it with other charts to help understand it, and it works out perfectly. I love it.

How can you guys like the other charts? IMO, those things are crap and take too long to read. This thing, you have your skills. You have your effects. You know what you can use. Badda bing, badda boom. The other ones you have to look at every ability blah blah blah blah.MNK: 31 RNG:70 WAR:35 SAM:10 NIN:35

It's a little bit confusing, but I think I get it o.o.
I don't quite get the diagram, it says: Scission ---> Reverberation ---> Induration etc. So if I do Shining Blade (Scission), and then do Spinning Scythe (Reverberation) what effect takes place? My other chart tells me it's Reverberation.
Something interesting on my other chart it says: If there is more than one renkei between two weapon skills, the one with the highest priority will be the one that goes off.
1-1 > 1-2 > 2-1 > 2-2
Umm... on that chart, it doesn't list 'multiple renkeis' involved. Do they mean like this chart points out "Hotshot" technically has 2 elements atttributed to it, being Liquefaction and Transfixion. You were saying the game checks the elements between the chains, and then if it gets a match in it's proccess it goes forward with this.
So if I were to chain "Hotshot" -> "Vorpal Blade", then the Scission effect would take place, but if I chained "Hotshot" -> "Tachi: Goten" then it would create an Impaction effect.
Uhh, is that right?

There is a PlayOnline article about renkei concept
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/vt/extra/01.html
Basic renkei concept is:
- WS have attributes of their owns.
- Some WS have multiple attributes. Renkei combination would count in piority of: 1st WS-1st att. > 1st WS-2nd att. > 2nd WS-1st att. > 2nd WS-2nd att.
- You do 2 WS in order to get renkei effect of 2nd WS attribute.
- By specific combination of WS attributes, you can make LV2 and LV3 renkei.
Typical steps of using chart.
1. First, You plan for renkei effect you need for mob weakness.
Example: Going to hunt Cockatrice in Cape Terigan (weak to Wind) prefer Fragmentation (Wind/Lightning).
2. Check weapon/job that can do renkei elements.
Example: Fragmentation required Induration > Reverberation. Most powerful WS for do the renkei is DRK Guillotine > RNG Sidewinder. Alternatives are: NIN Blade:To, SAM Tachi:Hobaku, WAR Smash Axe for Induration; and WAR Smash Axe/Sturmwind, MNK Shoulder Attack for Reverberation.
Notes:
- Some WS have status effect that help BIG. WAR Shield Break (-EVA) at beginning make huge different for DRK dmg.
- SAM or /SAM can retore TP very fast. They can help doing more renkei.
I had translated this chart for JP site, think it could cover most of fight aspects. Most JP pt leaders plan for hunting place and renkei first, then look for specific jobs required. NA pt might have different concept like make full pt first then see what pt can do, but this chart could apply as well.
Alucath:
You were almost rightPiority of Hot Shot > Goten is Liquefaction -> Impaction as you see, but follow the arrow you see it create LV2 Fusion (see the overlapped box on chart), not LV1 Impaction.
