All types of potions are way too over prices. 300+ for antidote is bad enough but eye drops are over 1k. I'd rather go blind.

I'm not sure if it's a coincidence, but I think taking a 2-leaf mandragora bug cure poison, but the food effect is a loss of 3 points in Vit, not sure but near. Can anyone conform this, haven't been poisoned in ages.<<outdated

The problem with antidotes is that, like most alchemy recipes, for some stupid reason, they're cheaper to buy from NPCs than from alchemists.
NPCs sell 'em for 300 gil; it costs an alchemist over twice that much just to make one if he buys all the components from the AH, and that's not taking into account that San d'Orian Grapes are damned near impossible to find in any appreciable volume (at least on Fairy... they're about 2000/stack, and between Bastok, Jeuno, and San d'Oria, I've never seen more than two stacks on sale at a time, and that was well over the usual price).
Yeah... so, alchemy, like most tradeskills, has been rendered nearly-useless by the absurd auction house prices and the lack of any other way for alchemists to obtain even the most low-level ingredients readily.
So I guess what I'm saying is that unless Square decides to make the alchemy vendors not suck, your best buy it paying 300gil a pop from the NPC merchants for antidotes, eye drops, echoscreens, and the like.

I believe the dealer is in southern san d'oria, but it's been a while since I made some.

thats odd, if you go to the Grocery Store in sandoria, they sell them there for like, 80 each. It costs me about 200gil to make an antidote. I make more selling them at the AH than I do selling the water crystals.
Any idea where I can get Nebinomite and Cobalt Jellyfish without having to fish?

This may sound strange but I've noticed poison runs it's course faster when I run around after getting poisoned. At least it seems that way.
When I got poisoned before (talking about the same monsters mind you) I would just stand still and wait for the poison to go away. Alot of times it wouldnt go away and I would die to death :-)
Now I make a point of running around and continuing to fight after I get poisoned and I don't take more than a dozen points of damage from it anymore.
Has anyone else noticed this?

There are "antidotes" in the game, but if you can't find them in AH or anywhere else, you might have to make those yourself through the Alchemy guilds.
San'dorian Grape + Wijnruit + Distilled water + Water crystal = Antidote
That's what I'm doing...:p [/QUOTE
Where do u get that "Winjnruit" or Rue ?
Thanks

Of course, let that be no excuse not to carry 3-5 antidotes at all times! There are OTHER reasons than just risk of dying - when poisoned, as we all know, you can't rest and heal. Sure, I can outlast a Plaguebreath now, but I might not outlast the goblin over the hillside... :dead:Retired for good this time; been a fun ride everybody.

The only time I've really found poison to be absurdly damaging is when trying to solo a mage the first few levels.
Did you know that the Tiny Mandragoras (lowest level mobs outside Windurst) can inflict poison? And can use Regen?
For all intents and purposes, if one does either of these things, it's impossible for a level 1-2 WHM to kill it... it's a bit ridiculous. It's not like level 1 or 2 characters can afford to shell out 300 gil for antidotes, and there's pretty much no way to survive that poison at that level unless maybe you have full MP and can cure yourself several times (not likely after you just finished a fight)Stormwalker

Just to add the list of placed to buy Antidotes. Bastok Alchemist Guild also sells them incase some of you asking where to get them at didn't klnow. And like mentioned before their about 300 a pop. I've thought about getting into Alchemy for my War to combat poison. But trust me, when you get into the higher levels (In not that high but from about 15 and up for me) You will find yourself almost never fighting mobs that poison simply because they will always register Tough (or maybe it was just me). I usually don't fight Poison afflicting mobs anymore unless their IT in a party or whatever. But, yes, It is pretty frustrating in the beginning because of poison. I used to hate when I went solo hunting and fighting Amber Quadavs. It seems they always wait until just before they die to cast poison on you. My beef with Lizards is their friggen stone gaze! . But thats a for another day.
