Okay, I just wanted to get some opinionson the situation and what you'd do about it. This isn't meant to slander, so names are being replaced.
Person A: Supposedly hacked.
Person B: Person A's Concerned Friend.
So, I hear a shout in Aht Urgan about a really low price on a hakutaku eye cluster. I send a tell to Person A and buy it. It IS a low price, and I don't see anything fishy; After all, people get quit the game/need fast cash all the time. Suddenly, I get a tell from Person B. Apparently, he thinks the account has been hacked and that I'm in some sort of scheme to steal all the items on the character.
This is where it gets messy. I don't b-list the person because I don't want to have my name and wrongs I haven't committed shouted all over vana'diel. I try to tell him that I stole nothing, and he rattles off a list of some 10 expensive items (among them noble's tunic and penitent rope) that I supposedly stole from the account. I tell him I didn't steal anything, I bought one item. I even go so far as to tell him that if Person A really DID get hacked, that I'll sell it back at the same price I got it for. This isn't good enough, though.
I make a GM call, and of course they won't do a thing, even though now I've been harrassed for going on a half hour. The GM even insinuates that what he said is true! Now, I'm feeling low-down, so I get my LS-mates telling the guy to lay off. Finally, after about an hour, one of them gets through his thick skull, and I stop getting tells.
I'm still holding the cluster, for any who are curious, and if Person A truly was hacked, she can get it back at exactly what I paid. She has until Saturday to send me a /tell.
So, I ask, what would you have done? Would you have Blisted him to begin with and said to hell with what he shouts? Would you have given the cluster to him? Would you have argued with him endlessly? I don't know if what I did was the best, but I left feeling like I might have handled it wrong.
