People can do things to at least hinder damned gilsellers, but their own greed makes them unable to do it.

A year ago when prices were much lower the game was enjoyable, now it's all about who has a higher credit line on their credit card. And to think these people waste more money than needed to play the game, it's really sad.

We're I a WHM, I see teleports going for 3k+ which is ridiculous. Paying gil for a teleport used to just be for courtesy and thanks, now it's payment. If only enough people would drop the prices on all teles down at least 2k gil, progression on eliminating teleport gilsellers would be in motion, although how slow and less profitable it would be.

Somewhere else I read a post by someone saying to create a linkshell for the sole purpose of getting at the gilsellers. By taking a large anti-gilseller LS and distributing them throughout the world to camp the same mobs the gilsellers are camping ( with perhaps a ratio of 1:3 ( gilseller/ls member )), claim the mob and use the drops within the LS to ward off people spending even more money which would further aid gilsellers. ( we all know not everyone is a gilseller, some people actually camp a mob to get the item and be done with it ). Also, were a linkshell to create low-mid-high level gear ( Bronze Harness for 3k? WTH!? ) and selling it much cheaper than it is now ( Credit to cr0ss )( or even distributing the gear throughout the linkshell ), it would help out new players and higher level people who just want to mess around on a low level job.

I don't care if the money is going to support his/her mom and 10 children ( I doubt anyone that " works " as a gilseller, could even get up off his/her ass to find a mate; even if that DID happen, you're children would most likely be under-nurtured ) or whatever, and we know that the gilsellers don't give a damn about what we think either; go out and get a real job...

People who buy gil are not to avoid blame for this insane inflation. They evidently only support the gilsellers and encourage them by purchasing digital code ( that would be Gil... ) that helps them in no way with life, with real currency. ( For people with no life, try leaving your home and meet fellow humans. )

Obviously I know the people can do something about the gilsellers if they tried, but someone thinks someone else would do it and thus they wouldn't have to, so they don't make any attempt at doing anything.

i will say this in point
since starting over as an unnamed character I have noticed how difficult it is to get by. 3k for teles is insane, as is 3-4 mil for astrals, as well as other low level items hitting 500k to 1mill+
because i have played before I know how to make gil, but I see alot of new players with gimp gear because they dont yet have the skills, and honestly
spending the first 6 months farming just to have the right stuff to hit level 30, well, would make me quit the game.
when i came back after christmas I couldn't believe what i was seeing in the auction houses, and a friend told me alot of people bought gil for christmas. now we all know that's true as the sites were listing backorders. he really was not lying.
most things have gone down, but alot haven't. I feel like I have to do massive farming every few levels, and crafting...even when i farm the items, to buy crystals for 10k when a stack of something sells for 2-3k or doesnt sell at all, crafting is just not worth it.
i make more on raw materials then a finished product quite often.
look im tired, and this is probably jumping all over, but he has a point about the prices.
Out of control, and I often wonder how the really new people do it, but then again, I just spent the night in the dunes with a whm who had two astrals, but no clothes.

i feel bad you feel that way, but let me give you some pointers. it really is easy to craft and make money. its all a matter of observation. i notice all the people that whine talk about economy this, and market that.... inflation this, and yet none of you really understands how economics actually works. Crafting is ALL about supply and demand. Cafawn, i know you in game, so this is how im gonna help you out

there are craft guides out there. are you really so impatient that supporting yourself through an income system is too hard? if thats the problem, im sorry, go play WOW, they literally shower you with money it seems compared to FFXI. making gil on FFXI has NEVER been easy to start. not even 2 years ago. scraping up 100k at level 20 used to take me a few days.... (yeah.... i learned how to play the system early. while JP's were crafting high level stuff, sheep hides/dhalmel hides supply was an untapped market XD)

if you cant make more than 20k a day farming, you are seriously farming the wrong stuff. i can level to 10 and make 70k+ on crystals alone. there is NO excuse. make the Raw materials that makes you money. support yourself on what sells. Making armor is for higher crafters.... if you are just crafting for the money, you need to figure out what sells.

SO WHAT if shit costs 2-3 million. materials were up to hundreds per stack..... shit. i saw FUCKING SHEEP LEATHER... 40k PER FUCKING STACK. LEVEL 2 LEATHER CRAFT, SHEEP literally SHIT OUT SKINS. GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK PEOPLE, you cant make money?!?!

PLEASE. quit whining about gilsellers. take advantage of it. i always have. make an ingame living off impatient jackasses willing to pay the 20-30k more above the list price because they bought gil and can suddenly afford to pay that much. To people willing to actually work for your money: Keep your mind on your money, and it will grow. you gotta have priorities, but if youre not making more than 1 mil a month in income at level 20.... you are seriously not trying hard enough. ive seen people make 5-10 mil a week with level 50 crafts. i believe you could probably make more, if you know what you are doing. if you can make 30+ mil a week, please send me a tell in game, i want your secret, and ill love you with mouth if you tell me.

I don't agree with gilselling/buying, but I do agree with Wraithblade, there is a ton of gil to be made from nothing. When I was a low level long ago I used to farm beehive chip stacks for about 2.5k, now they are damn near 20k. Even though big name items have high prices, so do the crappy ones, and for the most part, it's pretty much in proportion. I was having trouble wording what I was trying to say and I hope that made a little bit of sense. orz

I don't even play FFXI atm, get some facts before you spit out bullshit ok? Don't even start shitting me about how would I know if I don't play, i've played FFXI since day of release in the US. I havn't played for a year and a few months as of a week or so ago, and I see how ridiculous this stuff is. So I get on my friends account and I see whats up with Ragnarok and here I am. Vana'diel and the rest of the FFXI community got along very well without gilsellers; now that there are gilsellers, you see more and more disgruntled users... I wonder why...

( Yeah, and making 100k at level 20 " 2 years ago " could buy you most of your level 24 gear and some of your level 30 gear... Now 100k is but a grain of sand to add to the desert. 100k used to get you at LEAST 200 teleports ( 500 per tele ) but now all it can get you is around 33 teleports ( 3000 per tele ).

Apparently you've been playing just as long as some of us. But what you don't seem to understand is that as the prices go up, the only people who can really balance their gil with the inflation are the people who are already high level and have access to the materials needed to create useful profit. I am not against people that actually tried to make money, and have it. It's the people who do so, then sell their money to people who don't care to farm either... as you said, " Lazy ass bastards... ... If you cant afford to buy gil, or are too lazy to craft.. " should either try and do what every legit player does, and work for the money, or quit. And we wonder why we have level 60+ noobs...

The only reason civilized nations keep a constant rate of money within certain limits is because they have an organization, in our case the government and the Federal Reserve, that prevents inflation from occuring to unaffordable rates. Only with FFXI, there is no one to control the flow of money thus the only people who benefit from the inflation are high level people, leaving the lower levels completely helpless. We as a community, if the rest of us even care to try, need to somehow take money out of circulation. I don't know exactly how this would be done in a game like this, I just know how an economy works. Obviously thats going to really fuggin hard to even do much less think about trying to do, but it's what needs to be done for everyone to continue to enjoy the game. ( And when I say everyone, I don't mean just you Wraith )

Even if no one tries to do anything about it, would be really useful if SE would realize this problem and do something about it, but SE blows in the area of customer service. After all, they are making money, they don't care; sounds similar to the mindset of gilsellers right?

711rocks: I completely agree with you and Wraith saying money is out there to be made, i'm not against farming it. I'm trying to make a point that the money isn't in proportion with most people. The game is supposed to be fun, it shouldn't be a huge hassle to make money. ( Though it should definately take effort )

I laughed at this one. Sin cannot be compared to what is done in a game. There simply isn't anything that can be considered " sinning ". I say this because in many religious beliefs ( i'm mainly speaking of Christianity ), no one is free from sin. Yet you're putting " sinning " in the context of buying or selling gil; which i've never done. So you see, in your terms, i've never sinned, and so the first stone was thrown. I know I am not the only one thinking of these things. I started posting because I do not want to go into the game again without trying to do something to change the insane prices. Take your dispute to PMs, your discusion is no longer a logical debate about goods and bads of gilselling and it isn't even the original topic of this thread. You've both been warned, if you want to continue I'll be handing these lovely warning flags to go on your name.

To wrap up wraithblade's last closest logical debate to the topic is the age old statement "Everyone is doing it, why can't I?" were I think Xeib was trying to rebuttle "It isn't moral so you shouldn't do it."

If you want to get the legal aspect on one side the items can be claimed as Virtual Property. The game also not just simply a game it is also a community (When ever you are doing something with a group of people it becomes a community and has moral rules to it). SquareEnix already made it clear that all Virtual Property obtained in this game is still SquareEnix's property and only SquareEnix's property so anyone selling gil or items by law is stealing from SquareEnix.

Evidence of this is SquareEnix's action in permanently banning accounts that they fell without a doubt were stealing from them. Now that this has been summarized if you two want to continue do it in PMs or if you want others to put in their oppinions to it then take it to a new thread and most importantly be civil about it!
