12 earth crystals: 500g. 12 fire crystals: 4k. That's almost the price they were when I started playing three years ago! /dance Don't blame the economy on gilsellers my ass! Way to go S-E!

Edit: I should note for non-Lakshmians that during the post-xmas boom, fire crystals reached nearly 20k a stack, and even earth were up to 6k.

Demand hasn't changed for those items. Of course they are the same price. Take a look at some different items - especially luxry items. Dragon talon down from 9mil to 4mil. Penatants Rope down from 5mil to 1mil. Erase down from 1mil to 300k. While perhaps not as low as they once were, they are are below pre-christmas boom prices on my server.

You won't notice it on items like earth and fire crystals as much if at all because they are consumables, and in the not-quite 100% realistic economy of FFXI that means they stay consistant. Further more, look at the % change. If prices drop 10%, then you'll notice it very little on small ticket items. Luxery items are always a better judge of economic trends.

Ugh, this is one thing about deflation that I hate.

Right after the christmas madness, my astral earring reached a whopping 20mil. I don't know what possessed me to hang on to it, but I did. Now, it's worth 7 mil. I just want to take a gun to my head and shoot myself.

Yep and yep. Except on Fairy wind crystals (which are now the most expensive ones) are still bouncing around 6-10k. I won't pay more than 5k for them. Everything else seems to be in a slow decline. Now only if leaping boots would drop to the same prices from when I started playing. 100k? Yes, please. (Emp pin is still hanging around 5m right now.)

I noticed the same thing Taskmage. I saw about 10 days ago that Woodsmans rings were down to 1.4M. They were at around 4M each in Jan.

My theory is that people are selling off their items so they have gil for the new items and new jobs that are coming out tomorrow. Since we all know the prices on those items are going to sky rocket as soon as they hit the AH/Bazaars.

I think you misread my post. Prices on those crystals did drop to 20% of their post-xmas prices.

Edit: Or perhaps you started your reply before I edited in the old prices. I said they're the same price as three years ago. I'm ecstatic about that, because prices have steadily risen in the years since, eventually culiminating in the retarded 10-20k for crystals I mentioned.

On Unicorn server I have noticed over the past couple of weeks the prices dropping on crystals as well. When I first returned the prices on fire crystals was at 6k and now its lower than 4k. Myself, being a new player again, the deflation though has made me weary because if its temporary I can lose a lot of gil. I'm considering just using some stacks for beginning crafting instead of selling it AH so that way I put the crystals to better use, heh.

On fairy i noticed some deflation on crystals (~6k insted of ~13k) which will hurt the new player base comming but i guess is good for crafters. Other than that prices over all are just slightly lower overall, exept for what i make my gil off (/joy) ^^.

If anything, take a look at the NQ elemental staves now...

Dark Staff - 70k and seems to be dropping
Light Staff - 80k and dropping
Thunder Staff - 40k and dropping
Ice Staff - 20k!

Haven't taken a look at the others.

I've seen ice for 10k and Thunder for 15 in Valefor.

Never seen Earth crystals get over 1000 though.

i have seen prices go up on weekends only to drop on weekdays. consumable materials and HQ versions of low level gear tends to go for more profit than other items.
