um, hello there. my character is a tarutaru named Pixtin, and currently she's a 5 THF and in Windurst. seems that everywhere i check, i should be able to easily solo until lvl 10, but i'm finding that impossible. weaker monsters don't give justifiable exp and no items, and monsters that should be an appropriate challenge just kills me outright (crawlers and up). i suppose buying better armor is called for, but i just can't get the gil. monsters that i kill before they kill me are rarely dropping crystals, if at that, and i've put a couple stacks in the auction house, but they havne't sold yet. (and yes, i'm keeping signet on me at all times.)

so ... i'm looking for hunting partners. for exping and mission/quest completing. if anybody's interested, please put your char's name and lvl/job here, and i'll keep an eye out for you. kthxbye.

edit 5-11:... quick update: i'm now a 10 THF. and i have the best armor i can get for my level (as i'm aware of) and a shiny new dagger that causes blindness. looking for party, la tee dah ...

edit 5-15: 12 THF, almost 13. i found Giddius a good place for mashing through monsters. also gonna try working on clothcraft, to better utilize the area.

To improve on your weapomn and armour you can do quests in windy that you don't have to travel far, there are at least 2-3 in windy itself you can complete. For all windy quests http://ffxi.somepage.com/questdb/sea...urst%20-%20All .

You'll find a few things to do to get some gill etc. If your finding it slow have you thought about trying to level another job?

And what about the items that drop off the low level mobs a stack of soem can be worth a couple of k.

Best way to make money at your level is to get signet and sell crystals on auction house

thanks for the tips, Jarre and Cordderio. today, i've found my attacking routine, and i am now a 8 THF. i'd like to stick with this class for a little longer before switching to something else. still struggling with the gil harvesting, though .. crystal collecting is going slower than i can keep quiet about, but i guess that's life.

my request for group is still open, though.

Yeah, with THF, I'd reccommend taking the job to at least 15 mainly because that's when the job begins to shine. At level 15, you get Sneak Attack and also Treasure Hunter which will be both very helpful in the future, even as a subjob, such as farming.

I could go on and on why you should try 15, but I'm gonna stop here

I was just lvling Pld outside Windy, with whm subjob, although I used no equipment other than a sword. I just tore through low levelled monsters. If you want to level fast at low levels, rip through very easy monsters as fast as you can. You take little damage, and you kill them fast, so you can take 10 seconds to kill a monster and get 25 xp or so, but only take <10 damage. Or you can take 45 seconds to kill a harder monster, get 75 xp, and lose more than half your hp. All in all, when I levelled pld from 6 to 10, I only had to rest once per level, for about half my mp.

Also, crawlers in east sarutabaruta are slightly lower levelled than the crawlers in west sarutabaruta, if you want to try for silk threads. If for some reason you're soloing in sarutabaruta past lvl 10, then it's probably better to move to west sarutabaruta or tahrongi canyon.
