    Re: New Player, Maybe :S

Solo you might have some luck in Konschtat Highlands. When that starts to run dry either venture into Palborough Mines or Valkurm Dunes. Palborough is decent just because the Quadavs get tougher the farther in you go, so you can stay in there for a few levels. Don't quote me on that though, the respawn times in there probably make me horribly wrong about that.

Kon. Highlands or La Theine (or Tahrongi, if you happen to be on that side of the world) pages are good at that level, then you can do Dunes from about 18 for page 1 (though you have to avoid some higher level gobbies on the way to the rabbits). I think the respawn time would make Palborough tough (as Cid said), but that place is big enough where you could probably just run in a 15 minute circle and be back just in time for the timer to be up.

You haven't really lived until you've aggroed one turtle through some bars and had it arrive ten minutes later after having trained through the whole zone. Ah good times, good times.

              Re: New Player, Maybe :S

oh god, I did this when I was camping the first NM (Zi'Degi Boneater?) for my Kannagi. I cast on the PH through the bars in one room (dia?) and it ran off. All I could think to myself was "Oh man... this is going to be funny".

Around 2 minutes later, I had a swarm of roughly 30 Quads come charging into the room whiffing at me. All I did was switch to my Dagger and AoE them, but the fact that they died to 1 hit every time... it took a while to get to 100% tp... and I was virtually done killing them by the time I got there.

If that had happened to me at say lvl 50, different story entirely.

Hi, I have recently been thinking about trying out ff11 and a google search led me to this post asking if it was worth it to start. Do you mind providing me with any opinions. I'm a long time fan of the FF series, am quite tech savvy etc. but I have little to no experience with MMO's etc. I would have loved to play FF11 or WOW when they came out etc. but I was too busy with other things.

Any insight you provide would be greatly appreciated!

Not long ago I would've told you to go ahead and give XI a try. Nowadays I'd say XIV Skyrim is a better option. <_<

I have heard horrendous things about XIV....

I have an older PC (which could probably handle FF11) a ps3, a wii and a ps2. I got completely out of the gaming scene just after FF10 came out. I got back into it recently... Caught up on Zelda's, Mario's, etc. played FF13 and FF13-2 though I didn't think either were that great. I have ff12 and DQ8 which i am thinking of trying out but FF11 seems more interesting especially with the online aspect I guess..

Are there still plans to release FF 14 for ps3?

My favorite FF game was FF6 for the SNES... man that was just such an awesome game. I'm not sure if anything can come close. I have played and finished 4 - 9.. played 10, finished 13 and 13-2. I have never played ff11 or ff12. I tried the original NES 1 but never 2 or 3. During the nes days I played Dragon Warrior although I only ever really played DW1. I must admit the best FF's were FF4-7 and 9.. . 8 10 and 13 weren't my cup of tea although 13 looked nice.

And they are probably all true.

However this was before the new team took charge. Nowadays the game is pretty enjoyable and getting better with each update. Also, there are plans for a PS3 release, but according to the timetable YoshiP presented it will still take some time.

                            As for the team that ruined XIV... it seems they all went back to XI. <_<;

lol.. When designing ff XIV I'm surprised they messed it up so much given that the company already released ff11 and ff14 should have just improved upon it.

I'm still reading the earlier part of this thread but does FF11 have a story. I don't have much experience with MMO's though I'm sure I would enjoy them, but I'm just curious how the FF single player games is represented in the FF11 MMO.

Or is it all about leveling up your character etc and the world just has moogles and chocobos?

Story and NPC characters are XI's strong points. From Nation missions to expansions and add-ons the cutscenes are by far the best part of the game. Abyssea is very entertaining once you get there too, but it may be better if you wait some time before going inside and explore the rest of the game first. Because once inside Abyssea there's no turning back.

Well not really, you can exit the place at any time, but that gameplay will make the rest of the game lose a lot of it's shine. Again, except for the cutscenes and story.

PS > And yeah, after all this time we still have no idea what was going through the mind of Tanaka and his team when designing XIV. Although it seems they probably ran out of money and time and started cutting corners to try and get something (anything) out after all that time.
