Hello, not sure if this is the right thing to do, but it's better than not introducing myself at all. I am Melody. I play on the Phoenix Server and I just started playing FF XI today. I find it quite fun to level and it's a challenge when you die, because you gotta keep pushing forward or else you'll de-level. That's my motive. I hope some of the senior members of this forum wouldn't mind helping a newbie out. You can find me on my Elvaan named Ecclesia. Thanks.

Ahem. Never mind. Welcome to FFXI, one of our staff will be here shortly (well, probably) to give you a list of helpful tips in order to better your experience in both the forums and Vana'diel.

I mean, I would type out the list myself, but since I don't play FFXI anymore - it would be bad juju. Also I'm lazy. So yeah, just a "Enjoy your stay" from me! :D

If you ever feel that someone's post has violated the rules, you can report them. There is an icon with a "!" under your name in the bottom left corner that is the "Report Post" button. Wow so many friendly people. Well I am still new, but three jobs I want to do are, Beast Master, Dancer and Ninja. I am an Elvaan so I think it will be fun.

I'd recomend leveling BST first since it can be very good for farming and doesn't really need any expensive gear for the most part.

Plenty! Work, needing to save money, friends leaving the game, etc. Now all is well, and but since I gave away all my items and deleted my characters - waiting for FFXIV.

Can't say Beastmaster would be a good first-time job, but I differently recommend looking into it later on. One of my favorite jobs. (Then again, I just like being expensive with my equipment purchases. So maybe it could be.) It's great, but not very party-oriented.

So I should stick with dancer? Since I heard with Beast Master you can solo a lot of stuff in the game and you don't need help from other people, which is what I want. I don't want to be idling and waiting 30 hours for 1 party.

Theorically you should stick to the job you enjoy playing the most.

But for practical purposes leveling DNC to 40+ and taking BST to 80+ would be what I would recommend I guess.

Alright so.....I should go BST? I saw someone use one and I liked how they work. You charm creatures and send them into battle. ~_~

Yep, that will not only give you a lot of experience dealing with aggro and mob behavior (which is very useful) but will also put quite a bit of gil in your pockets.

Just remember getting the gobbie bag expansions asap, you'll need em.
