  • Noob galka

I know I want to be a Galka but I was wondering the best job and sub job would be best for me... I was thinking to do monk to 18 get sub train war to 37 and then unlock either paladin or dark knight and have war as a sub... But what would be the best thing go me as a galka?

Best thing you can do is play a job you enjoy. If you don't enjoy a job you're going to suck at it regardless of race.

Im really new to this game also and I started as monk and found it pretty fun. I recently switched to warrior and am enjoying it even more. If you know what class you are aiming for in the end and wanna sub warrior i think this is a good idea. I didn't have much trouble getting to 18 on monk either. On the Asura server Crawlers are you're friend. They drop silk which sells for like 1k each. Also if you can find wild onions they also sell for 1k at the auction house. Hope this helps a little.

Although Galkas have a low MP pool, a Galka Pld is a very good job, it was my top job I had. But yes mnk to 18 subjob quests, war to 30 with mnk subjob, then do pld quest and do pld/war (though i found pld/mnk good for soloing as you didn;t need provoke as you could dia pull)

Also Galka Rdms 40+ with Convert Hp to Mp gear. They have an insane amount of Hp, and their convert will fill up their Mp fully with out issues. Its hard before 40 as a Galka rdm, but if you can do it, you will be fine. They can also take a few hits unlike most other rdms and whms lol.

            Re: Noob galka

Any race can play any job. The only substantial difference across races is HP and MP levels - anyone who thinks he has a huuuuge advantage in any of the other stats (say, STR or VIT) just because he picked X or Y race doesn't understand how stats work.

Even for HP and MP, every race has access to the equipment necessary to compete in the long run. A Galka <anything with MP> will have to work harder early game, yes, but the higher you go, the easier it gets. Besides that, there's no substitute for good MP management. A bigger MP pool just means you can go on longer if you're using more MP than you can recover over time. But the player that manages his MP more effectively is always better.

So don't worry about what job fits your race best. Worry about what job you'd enjoy most. If you don't enjoy it, you won't have fun, and you won't last long before you either change jobs or quit. Bear in mind that Paladin and Dark Knight are two completely different jobs. One is focused on tanking, the other is about doing damage. Either way you'll have plenty of time to figure out what you want.

              Re: Noob galka

Welcome to FFXI. If you choose Galka, you get a bonuse ring if you start in the city Bastok. Also, Paladin is arch-typical of a galka and you will be using many more than one sub-job. You can check out THIS for some more help if you want.
