  • Great axe

Hey everyone. I started a few weeks ago and have leveled up monk to about 15 or so. Im gonna take it to 18 then try and get a subclass. At that point I plan on switching to warrior and leveling that up to 18-20. My question is kinda simple. I have read some guides that say great axes are the way to go for warriors and there is a level 4 or 5 one called Butterfly Great axe or something like that. It's only like 500 gil at the auction house. Should I buy that to start with or is there somewhere else I can get one that might be better or cheaper. I am in Windurst still trying to complete quests and just upgrade my armor etc. Any suggestions? My other option was picking up a sword of some sort because that seems like a general weapon which I could level up and perhaps use for other classes later. Thanks ahead of time!

Oh I also forgot. There is a ring that I can trade signet points in for called a Warp or Return ring. Can't remember off the top of my head exactly. It costs 2500 pts from the general list that anyone can purchase. Is this a one time only type ring or can I use it repeatedly and just pay to recharge it like some of the other items available for purchase? I have 2800 points and don't know if I should just save them until I can buy a level 20 item or use it on the ring instead of always having to treck back to town.

You can find the NPC prices for just about any item by looking it up in ffxiclopedia.org. There you can see the overall price range, and check out which NPCs have it to look up specific prices. You can compare that to the AH to see which is cheaper.

Swords are a no-no. You want Great Axes until at least level 50. If you're going to go up to 75 with WAR it's also good to keep your one-handed axe skill capped along the way.

Return Ring is not rechargable. It teleports you to the current region's Outpost if two conditions are met:
    1) That region is under your nation's control.
    2) You've delivered supplies to that outpost before.

Talk to the guards at the gates to accept supply run quests. By delivering supplies to outposts, you can talk to a certain NPC in town to teleport you to those outposts for a small fee, if you're high level enough.
