  • Hi Newbie question

Can someone tell me what to keep and what not to keep when lving. I see that in ff the inv space are less then other game and I am new so I dont know what most stuff does yet. lv 9 thief.

So I know that crystals are important which takes like 4-5 space in inv because there are many kind and beastman seal are imporatant.

So what other stuff I should keep and sell? Thanks.

Also, the check function is borken or I am newb ><. It says monster is easy and doesnt say anything about its defense so i am guessing its normal defense. But they take my more then half hp away at lv 9. I am fighting crawlers. I cant even fight giant bees in windrust. they hit me like 8-9 each hit or so. And mob with decent challenge finish me off everytime. If i dont fight decent one then my skills wont lv up >< so what am i suppose to do? Buy new equips? then i have problem with money. so please tell me what to do.

    Re: Hi Newbie question

Keep all the Beastman Seals. Sell the crystals on the AH. And sell the other junk (Culcases, Seeds, and other stuff) to NPCs.

As the check function though. That is a litlle odd. Even if it says Easy prey, it will be hard to kill. Once you hit lvl 10, you can start to party, and kills will be faster/easier.

Also, follow the FoV book for help on what to kill and for money. You can even get regen which will help you live stronger. Also. You should be wearing equipment as close to your lvl as possible. Do not use a dagger pre 23 as well. If you do, kills will be hard. Use a sword.

      Re: Hi Newbie question

Takelli pretty much has it all. Stock up all the beastmen's seals and just put them in you mog safe. Crystals sell about 1k per stack (at least on Seraph) on AH so those are pretty good to keep. And just in case, FoV stands for Fields of Valor, those floating books that you see from time to time. Read the "individual training" for the guides and "field support" for various buffs

If you happen to be on Seraph, shoot me a /tell and I'll be happy to help

          Re: Hi Newbie question

The buff that a warrior should get will be Regen, same as Thf. Regen will give you 1 Hp every 3 seconds which is a life saver, and helps soloing so much. It lasts for 1 ful hour, and its only costs 20 Tabs to get it.

Also... Every game day (45 minutes), you can get a new page to work off of, and get more money/exp/tabs.

As for drops, I'd say to keep everything, so long as you can manage the space. You're killing crawlers, so you're in Windy ... the Crawler Calculi that they drop can be turned in for a quest once you have 3, in Windurst Woods. You could turn in the Silk Threads as well, but they're worth more on the AH. Yagudo Necklaces (because they WILL aggro from time to time) can be synthed to copper ingots, which are stackable, sold to the AH, or turned in 4 at a time for a quest for Norg fame (which you will need down the road). Just ask yourself, for everything that drops, what can you do with it.

Also, this site will help now: FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more
And this will help later on: Final Fantasy XI Auction House - FFXIAH.com

Your equipment does not decide whether or not you will get skillups (usually). You'll get them by killing anything EP or better(usually). Some things you may want to save to stack and sell on the AH: Silk Thread,Insect Wings,Crystals,Beehive Chips, Pots of Honey.

BTW, you will ALWAYS be short on gil in this game. It sux now and it will suck later.
