I have no idea about puppet master as even on my main character I havn't quested for it yet, so i'll leave those with experience to answer that though would suggest making a thread in thr puppet master part of the forum or at least have a good read (quick link to it here) .

Re: Starting from Scratch? Is it easy? See here

      Today another target was reached.

While doing FOV quests in the dunes, a Ghoul agrod, and I managed to kill that after finishing off the goblin I was killing, the Magiked Skull dropped first time from it, I now have the complete set for the sub-job quest.

So I head over to Selbina to talk to Isacio (G10) and trade him one at a time when asked the 3 items, Damselfly worm, Magicked Skull and Crab Apron.

It is quite important to get the sub job ability as it helps increase your stats. Being a lvl 27 Monk means that with Warrior leveled to 15, the subjob level (which is half you main job level assuming its reached that level) was lvl 13. I have access to provoke, which helps with soloing (due to monks not abel to have a ranged item or spells to pull with) and also helps in aprty situations to take hate in emergency.

To give an Idea of the stats heres a picture before the subjob is selcted.

Now that Nomad moogles are in Selbina, you can get them to allocate you a subjob by goign to change job. unequip the current job by changing it to somethign else to un-grey the subjob. (it wouldn't let me do anythign till I did this for some reason.. bug? ) Re-equip your main job and tehn select your sub job, in my case Main = Monk, sub = war. Now your stats improove due to teh subjobs characterists see pic and compare with the above image.

As you can see tats have increased by:-

      HP by 58
      Strength by 5
      Dexterity by 4
      Vitality by 3
      Agility by 4
      Inteligency by 2
      Mind by 2
      Charisma by 3

Also Attack value has increased by 2
Defense value has increased by 11

Next is to get to Lvl 30 and then start to consider a viable advanced job.

The Attack value increase was caused by your Strength increase, as 2 STR = 1 Attack.

2 VIT also equals 1 Defense, but where did the other 10 come from? It's worth noting that at level 10, Warriors get the Defense Bonus Trait, increasing Defense by 10.

All in all, great post, as it clearly shows why there is no reason to not get a subjob as soon as you can.

You occasionally mention parties, but the way things read I'm unsure if you have gotten any of your xp in them. Did you go all the way to Lv27 MNK just soloing Fields of Valor with Regen Field Support?

Are you usually just fighting EP enemies which have a hard time hitting you and relying on MNK's fantastic killing speed along with Training Regime XP? What would you estimate your xp per hour to be? ~3k?

OMG! The new EP and DC experience is a huge change:
          New Table
          Old Table

          Lv21-30
          Lv | Old | New | Improvement
          -1 | 72 | 90 | 25%
          -2 | 50 | 80 | 60%
          -3 | 46 | 75 | 63%
          -4 | 41 | 70 | 71%
          -5 | 37 | 65 | 76%
          -6 | 33 | 60 | 82%
          -7 | 39 | 55 | 41%
          -8 | 24 | 50 | 108%
          -9 | 20 | 40 | 100%
          -10|15 | 30 | 100%

It may still take 100,550 xp to reach Lv30, but these changes to EP and DC xp are phenomenal. Combined with the bonuses for duos and trios, I see little reason to go for a full party until Lv40+.

Re: Starting from Scratch? Is it easy? See here

I don't have much time to play these days so yes all my exp has been through soloing. however doing fields of valour quests, the extra exp SE implimented on ep and DC mobs (most exp I have got from these mobs) The thing is sometimes it is difficult tog et a party, but how I am going is showing that if you have to solo or have jsut started you can stilla cheive lots. Liek with the subjob quest, I had no help with any of the items. i could have buttered up Aksannyi and asked her if she had some time free to help me but didn't. If I get invited to a party and have enough time to do a good stint in it I will join one, but at teh moment I have had no invites, part of it due to no subjob and the general consensus of players thinking your a noob and not worthy of partying with (even though I do have lots of party experience with, my main character.)

As said this is an experiment and I'm seeing how far I can go with it before getting bored lol. I admit I have been quite suprised of how easily I have got as far as I have, especially with teh experience of getting to this level 2 years ago on my main character Brickshouse where the linkshell i was in helped me quite a bit. it certainly is alot easier now to start the game and do things.

Before I just thought your experiment interesting and quite helpful for players wishing to start the game today, but now I find it truly enlightening. Getting to Lv30 has become much easier.
