Using Visa giftcards with FFXI

Hello all,
I've been trying to get FFXI going for the last two days now >_< First my POL viewer wasn't working, but now I got that to work. Now Im unable to clear my credit card info when I register.

I've tried my card and my girlfriend's card and both have been rejected. Therefore, my next plan is to buy one of those Visa giftcard things with $50 on it and try using that to register. I saw some people on other forums got it to work this way.

Does anyone know anything about this issue, or if the Visa giftcard thing is successful for sure?

Would appreciate any and all info. Thanks!

Have you tried contacting SE and giving your CC info over the phone? I can't see why a gift card would work over a CC unless your CC's are full. And I'm going to assume you are intelligent enough to not use a full CC to try and register. (Though I've met some people that would! LOL) Gift cards do indeed work as long as they are the CC type of card and have a Visa or Mastercard logo. If you still have issues, you definately should contact SE:

Wait... Not all Visa and Mastercard Gift cards work. I know because I've tried (again and wasted my money ; ; ) , it's real stupid, back in the day I used to have to get a specific gift card. It's called a "simon mall gift card" search it up on google, because I'm not sure if i'm suppose to post the link, but it'll be the first hit....

I wasn't aware that you could pay over the phone. I've seen many many threads with people having this issue and no one ever talked about paying over the phone. In terms of contacting POL for tech support, I hear they are very VERY little help and will repeatedly tell you to check with your bank.

And yes, I am sure that my card IS valid and legit and has money on it and has no reason to be rejected.

I guess I'll call them tomorrow out of sheer desperation. I guess I cant use the online chat cause I dont have a POL member number thing because I cant register....grrr....this is getting silly.

I know exactly what you are talking about and I have received the Simon cards before as gifts from people. Maybe I'll just wait for Christmas as the relatives are bound to give me some

Good news everyone!!!

I tried it again this evening with my girl's card and it worked!!!

You can close the thread and go home now. I guess its just the luck of the draw when you try and register.
