Hello, I'm new here. I found this forum when googling for FFXI Vista problems, as I am having a NIGHTMARE trying to play this game. I have a character on Cerberus called Cayde, whom I'm yet to play with.

Re: Hello.
Sorry, I'm not very good at introducing myself either. I've posted it in the Vista problems thread too but I'll also post it here.
I'm having problems with playign the game on Vista. Every two to three seconds I get half a second of lag, and it starts right from the start of the movie when I load up the game. I've closed all background apps to see fi it would work but it did nothing. I have an Intel Core 2 4300 1.80GHz, 1gig of RAM and an ATI Radeon X1650. It's a brand new PC, bought it cheap, but surely even this could run FFXI? This is doing my head in!

Re: Hello.
Well I am running FFXI in Vista, but I don't have really bad lag problems, though I'm thinking the problem is your RAM ... Vista uses a TON of memory just to run, let alone allow you to run more off it. I have twice as much RAM as you and I have little trouble with the game, I get lag but no more than is usual.
Of course, I could be wrong, as I'm not exactly 100% tech savvy but when I bought my laptop they made sure to give me one with plenty of space so that Vista could do its thing and also allow me to run the game.
Also, disable the UAC. It serves no purpose and it will probably give you problems in the future with running FFXI.sigpic

Re: Hello.
Disable User Account Control (UAC) the Easy Way on Windows Vista :: the How-To Geek is what I followed when I disabled mine.
If you plan to use windower, I'd recommend looking here for information on getting windower and Vista to work harmoniously together.sigpic
