At the very early levels, gil isn't as big of an issue. The standard items are fairly cheap, and since you're starting in Windurst you can kill bees and crawlers for their drop items (aka farm) and sell them at the AH. Crawlers drop silk threads and bees drop beehive chips (The bees right outside Windurst don't drop those, you'll have to find the Giant Bees a bit farther out. But they are a bit too tough at lvl 4). Both sell nicely and can easily cover the expenses of low level equipment/spells.
Oh, and one thing I don't think anyone has mentioned yet, don't drop any Beastmen Seals you find. They will seem pointless at first, but they because more valuable later on. But it's not a bad idea to start saving up now.
