Soon-to-be newb

I'm a longtime MMO player (I cut my teeth on UO:T2A if that tells you anything... XD) that is looking to really get started in FFXI. I played it at launch and honestly wasn't inspired to go very far, but after looking at all the updates and new content available, it seems much more fun to me.

Any particular server I should start on? I don't really like to go by server population and more by the attitude and such of the players on it, as well as the sorts of guilds available (and the economy status, for this game), so any recommendations are welcome. :D
