  • Thinking about playing

Hey, i was thinking about giving FFXI a try. Just a few questions before I buy it since i don't know anyone with a trial code.

1- How healthy are the servers? Will i have trouble finding groups or are there plenty of people

2- Is FFXI solo friendly? i love grouping with people but will I be screwed if i can't find groups? I hate not being able to level if there are no groups around.

3- How is the raiding in FFXI? are the encounters difficult enough to keep a group/guild stumped for a long time? I love a good challenge.

    Thanks!

    1. Servers have different economies so it depends what you're on. I think the servers are consistant ENOUGH to deal with. There are plenty of people though. You won't have a hard time finding a group. Hopefully you'll find a group that you're comfortable being with.

    2. FFXI is not completely solo friendly. There are in fact 2 officially deemed solo jobs. For the other jobs, people have found some ways to solo either for a short time or for the rest of your levels. You can form your own party or seek a party. Forming a party is good but you have to know how to manage your party and know where to find a camp (a spot where you can settle and fight monsters on for experience points). Although, there are times that certain jobs aren't seeking around your level or the right jobs are just not seeking at all. Seeking a party is good if you're the kind of person that doesn't want to take responsibility for the party, finding a camp, or the experience points. Although, there are times when it could be bad because you might have to wait a long time for a party invite because people can be picky for the party they want. The funny thing is when someone complains about not getting a party, there's really great jobs seeking around there level and it's like "Well, there's your party right there." Once again, they still might not want to be the leader of the party or don't know where to find a camp. The main thing to do is put a "marker" mark (this is found on the map when you're in an area that you obtained a map in) on the camp that you're on when you get invited to a party to look back on for when you want to find a camp for your party.

    3. I don't entirely understand what you mean, but I'll try to answer it. For guilds, (they're called linkshells in this game) having people stick together can sometimes be tough because if they think your linkshell is boring, they can easily leave and jon another one. It does take some work to make a very successful linkshell if you plan on doing so. For social linkshells, it's pretty easy sometimes. Lots of people may want a linkshell to be social with and have fun instead of being with a serious linkshell. Basically, they want to feel comfortable where they are when they enter your linkshell, but there's many players out there to make friends with so you should hopefully be ok.

I apologize for it being so long. I hope it helps. Take care and have fun with the game. ^^

Aaliyah is more than a woman and she graduated with a 4.0 GPA (she only had 1 "C" grade ever in her life).

I bolded and underlined the "is" just for you, Malacite.

lol. I've wanted to play this game for the last four years, and two months ago I finally got the chance. And I am very glad I did. I've been enjoying it quite a bit. And I bet you'll enjoy it too.
