Hello, I'm new and should be playing FFXI soon, it's updating and stuff. I can't wait to play, I'll probably be up all night playing. :D

Once you get up and running, let us know what server you're on, perhaps we'll have a few veterns around that can help you our.

Once you get started, I'm sure you'll have lots of questions, so I'll provide a few links to valuable resources if you havn't found them already.

Thanks! It actually looks like I won't be playing very long tonight... You see, I bought the game like 2 years ago or something, and I haven't played it until now. So it's updating... a lot. And apparently it'll be 5 more hours, which means it should finish around 12:00 AM where I am. And I want to get to bed at like 1 or 2, so I'll probably play for like an hour or so tonight tops.

Oh well, I can't wait.

Firaeon, a little word of advice from a FFXI vet, and FFXIO vet. Please, do a little research before asking a question, there has been a trend for new people to not look up anything before they ask, which just drives us crazy. Nerco gave you some good links, which should help you with basic questions. There's also a new player guy somewhere on the forums (too lazy to find it).

Also, please try to keep to FFXI questions as well, although we do have a forum for video games, and off topic stuff, that is for more of a discussion of products, but questions are always welcome there as well.

In conclusion Google is your friend.

Hey and welcome to FFXI, I am new too I joined yesterday evening around noon or so took me all morning to download the damn thing though lol. But yeah, hope you injoy the game. Oh, and what sever are you on??
