I just now heard about this game! Well not about the game itself, but the game could be played on ps2 lol. About the ps2 version, how do I hook this game up to a new version of the ps2? My main concern is the HDD, where could i buy one?

Re: Newbie to FFXI
don't bother with the PS2. At this point, it's more expensive than just buying a used 360 and a new copy of FFXI or a new PC and a copy of the Vana'diel collection.
As for a wireless adapter, you'll have to get a wifi bridge to connect it to a console, which last I checked (awhile ago, I admit) was around 50-80$
You can probably get a used PC for around 200-400$ that will play FFXI fine.

Re: Newbie to FFXI
Guilds: They're called Linkshells. Not a lot use VoIP, but some do.
Busiest server: Probably bahamut now, but it doesn't matter, more players isn't always better in FFXI.
If you're near oklahoma city, look into these:
http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/sys/362301993.html
http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/sys/358930973.html
either one of them should be able to play FFXI just fine.
EDIT: They'll both play FFXI fine, but only the first one has a DVDROM, so unless you want to buy one for the second one, I'd go with the first

Re: Newbie to FFXI
Tell your parents to buy you that computer, and get a wireless card for it
I'd recommend reading through the reviews here http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCateg...eless-Adapters before you buy an adapter.
PS2 accepts USB keyboards last I checked, i'm not sure about mice. Really though, considering you could get that computer, wireless, a keyboard, a mouse, and a monitor for under 200$, and the FFXI collection for another 20$ (which you'd probably be looking at JUST to buy a new version of the FFXI software/HDD and expansions), I'd go with the PC

Re: Newbie to FFXI
of course some people do, but they also got the game years ago. Keep in mind this forum has been around about half a decade now, I imagine quite a few people here played the original JP PS2 release.
