Hey everyone! iam finally glad to say that i am finally joining the FFXI community !

Before i will go into any details about myself - i will tell you a small story for why i havnt started earlyer to play FFXI.

Basically when i was younger my parents never owned a credit card and never trusted the internet (like most caring parents are ). Basically i would of loved to get a pre paid visa but because i live in Australia there was no such thing untill now (19 years old - rather prepaid then a full visa ). So in the next couple of days i will get my card and i will top it up and start playing .

Anyway, now a bit about me.

I am a 19 year old guy who lives in Australia - Perth, love my sport, and of course gaming! Basically for the last couple of years i've been bouncing from MMO to MMO knowing that i could only play a few games that were either free or had gamecards (shiver...wow..) but lets not go there.

For me i totally love the FF series from the old snes to PS2 and of course PS3 for FFXIII when that comes out. I really enjoyed FFVIII, i know it has been said it was the "odd" one out but it really gave me lots of enjoyment - and of course FFVII, that was a classic.

The only game in the FF series i havnt played has been FFXI, due to unfortunate events. I would of loved to play a trial version or had a friend who had it aswell - but i either missed the trial promo's and that i dont have any friends who have FFXI.

Anyway i really am looking forward to the game - before i go off, i have a couple of questions to ask.

Basically, because i am in Australia, what server is one of the better ones with a good Aussie community?

Also, with Tetra Master - is it worth getting?

The music and so forth, is it like the original FF series that sounded great!

One last question, what is better - FFXI for PC or xbox 360? I know it comes down to personal choice, but any "major" difference between the two? I like to chat and talk abit, so PC would more than likly be a better option?

Unless you have friends on a particular server, you pretty much have to let the game select one for you as you'll require a World Pass from someone to join a particular one. Personally, I just let the game throw me on one and I'm happy with being on Ifrit. Though I think all servers are about the same. I don't know of a particular server with a seperate Austrailian community on it, but the great thing about FFXI is how well most players get along despite thier location, nationality, race, or gender. My LS has people from all over the world and works out great when I play odd hours of the night there are more than one or two people on that I can chat with that I'm familier with.

Only real segregation that I have noticed is the japanese populace from the english speaking populace, and this is generally from a language barrier. While most people will party with anyone, you do see the occasional search comment like: JP ONRY!, NA ONRY!, and the two favorite that I've seen...Sheep Onry! and Jewish Onry!

But anywho, welcome to ffxi and enjoy the game!

Heya xenoclix and welcome, like Necropolis said unless you have friends who already play ffxi then it shouldn't matter which server your on. Ive only been playing a few months and since I didnt know anyone who already played I let the game choose my server and I also ended up on Ifrit which I am very happy with.

When I first started I was panicing about finding a server with loads of UK players on it that would be on my timezone and item prices etc but when I just started the game I realised that it didnt matter, the majority of people that I have met so far have been really nice. There have been lovely UK, US, France and some Japanese players (although all we could do was string together some simple auto-translate phrases together and make bow movements to each other lol).

I personally play on the xbox 360 version and all I had to do was to plug in my usb keyboard from my old pc into the 360 and I was able to chat away with everyone Ive heard that the pc version has better graphics than the 360 version but I find the graphics fine on 360, plus I never really play pc games and so I doubt I could play ffxi as well using a mouse and keyboard for all my commands!

Anyway this is getting longwinded but whatever version or server you end up playing on I hope you enjoy the game and if you end up on ifrit feel free to give me a /tell if you want
