I didn't want to steal anyone else thread, so I hope you don't mind that I made a new one.

I've played for about 3 hours so far, and I've spent most of time just trying to figure out how to find my mission objectives. Although... took a pretty hefty search on my part to discover where the main menu was as well

I'm very curious about this game though, and I'm not ready to give up on it any time soon. Currently I am stuck however, since my problems with missions/quests is that I just don't know where to go exactly... or what to do.(There sure is a lot of running to be done)

Sadly, I'm getting late for work right now.. or else I'd try to find out what exactly it is I'm having problems with :p

I'm Icelandic, playing on Odin. If there are any friendly Linkshells out there, that I might be welcome to join, I'd be mighty grateful.

Welcome to FFXI, and welcome to Dreams in Vana'diel!

You can find an extensive walkthrough on what to do to accomplish your missions here:

For a new player, you shouldn't worry too much about missions when you start. They don't really do that much for you until you reach rank 3 (which requires that you be at least level 20+ for a reasonable chance to win the battle for the mission).

Welcome to FFXI, and Dreams in Vanadiel. Glad to have you.
As for missions, I'd wait and get to level 10 or so (shouldnt take but a few hours) before trying the rank 1 missions. There are several websites with helpful walkthroughs and tips if you want the help
www.killingifrit.com has some good mission walkthroughs, and
ffxi.somepage.com has a good database and quest/mission info.
