    Re: Newbieeeeee

Aha thanks, I'm thinking Taru Melee, thought that might not get too many invites due to them having lower stats than a elvaan melee of the same level? Will there be many people of the same level as me when I begin the game, that I can sort of make friends with & drift along the game with, as we'd have the same problems being the same levels, or will it be a case of pestering those of higher levels to have a kind soul & take me under their wing?

      Re: Newbieeeeee

All races can perform acceptably at all jobs at end-game (level 75), but you might struggle here and there depending on your job combination. Taru melees are "OK" - they're still great with good gear and play style, but those early levels hurt a bit, especially if you're forced to tank.

Ditto for Elvaan or Galka mages. You can still perform well at end-game, but you're going to struggle a bit with the low max MP early on.

If you're just a casual player without tons of time on your hands, I'd recommend you just pick whatever race looks most visually appealing to you and have done with it; the difference isn't big enough to fret over unless you're really hardcore and want to maximize everything you do.

Oh okay thanks, Taru it is! I guess i'll just have to battle it on, I'd like to start Warrior so i've got a good point to start from I guess, or would starting Mage Taru be easier, then I can work on my warrior? Or does it all not matter, if it doesn't then i guess Mage Taru would be the easiest to begin with then I can change when I like?

You can change jobs any time you like just by entering your Mog House and talking to the moogle.

Overall, I'd say Red Mage is, for the uninitiated, the easiest job to start with. Lot of room for error, and you can learn the ins and outs of both melee and magic in the early levels. It's not a job you should be fighting in melee with much past level 30, but it probably gives a better overview of the game mechanics to new players than any of the other basic jobs.

As a side bonus, Tarutaru make excellent red mages at the lower levels for new players due to their lack of dependence on the more expensive +MP items.

They talk, just not unless they know you usually. This game is played by both Japanese and English speaking players, so you run the risk of them not understanding you.

the starting areas are kind of, empty most people there are just lvling crafting skills or doing fame quests at this point. So they won't be super talkative, once you hit the dunes it'll get better, 1-10 is the quiet slow initiation grind lol

Selling stacks (12) of crystals for about 2k each seems to do me alright! Though i'm only lvl 8 WAR & havn't done any missions or quests, i gave fishing a hand but at the beginning you don't catch many fish & they don't seem to be worth too much, I'm just trying to get past the initial stages!! I'm on Fenrir server but it seems a little empty, anyone else on?

To start fishing go to the fishing guild in your port... well this is for me. & buy some bait to go with it, equip bait & fishing rod then select fish from the "Enter" menu by water, then with the camera facing your character
                    follow the rod!!

Actually, this isn't accurate. The bees outside of the gates of both Windurst (Bumblebee) and Bastok (Huge Hornet) do not drop beehive chips. Don't kill those if you're interested in making money.

Any other member of the bee family of monsters can drop beehive chips, however (Giant Bee, Maneating Hornet, Huge Wasp, Killer Bee, etc.), but you'll have to wander a bit farther out than just the main gates to get to those.
