  • hi there, newbie here

Hi, I am new to the forum

I have been playing the game for allmost 2 weeks now and well what can I say..................

    I'm hooked

My main char. is Ama an elvaan war, who is now at lvl 13, she works hard on her great sword skills as well on her axe skills but she still hasn't found a great axe so she can get those skills up yet..... now she tries really hard to get to lvl 18 so she can pick a subjob; don't know which one.....but she got 5 more lvls to go to figure that out

I play on Pandemonium and the people i met so far are great; peeps started healing me and casting protect and shell out of nowhere but so far I only get the hang of the basics, the first time I got healed by someone he/she was gone before I figured out how to say thanks

anyway, great game and community but it's gonna take a long long time to figure out all that SE has put in this never ending story

    see ya all!!!

    Re: hi there, newbie here

Welcome to Final Fantasy XI Online, and welcome as well to this forum!

Sounds like you're enjoying yourself, and that's great to hear.

Regarding your support job, since you only have the basic 6 jobs available to you at the moment, I would recommend using Monk as your support job on Warrior until you reach level 30 (which means you'll want to level Monk to at least 15), as it provides good stat and ability bonuses to the Warrior job up through that point, better than any of the other basic jobs.

Once you're level 30 you can undertake quests to acquire advanced jobs, which gives you a lot more flexibility.

Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Vana'diel!

butterfly axe (grt axe) lvl 5. these are expensive for new people if you buy them from ah. but if you are from bastok or have a mule there they are cheap. less than 400g. maybe do a search and ask someone to pick up 2 for you 1 to use other to sell on ah for around 3k to 5k. prices vary from server to server but once upon a time i was getting as much as 20k for these on ah. ps welcome to FFXI and FFXIonline

Actually, since her WAR is level 13, a Greataxe might be a better choice at this point. It's also purchaseable from an NPC in several locations, so it's certainly worth considering.

Regardless, OP, welcome to FFXI, and to this community!^^

          /welcome!

          ^^

          I agree with Icemage.

My one char, Gauze did WAR/MNK up till WAR was 30.. then got NIN >.>

^^ NIN is so fun you should try it when you get that high level, it's pretty easy to do, too! ^^

            Re: hi there, newbie here

            thank you all so much!

I do have a great time in Vana'diel!

So far i've been exploring the area's and I'm learning more and more every day, mostly the hard way

Two days ago I was trying to find a good place to farm some crystals and get some exp. as well, so I decieded to go to fort Gelsba.
When I entered all the mobs where "to low to be worthwile" so I went on deeper into the fort untill I reached a place where there were orcs who were an easy prey, there was a war chief as well so I checked his strenght........well he didn't like that so he started attacking me ....very hard.
I started to run as hard as my elvaan legs could, but within seconds I had all the orcs inside the fort chasing me needless to say I did not survive...
            lesson learned!

I'm now at level 17, carrying a claymore and a greate axe trying to get their skills up (resp. lvl 40/46 ) and trying to find the stuff you need for my sub-job
( monk ) looking for someone to help me with those.

So, thanks again for your warm welcomes and really helpfull tips

            See you in Vana'diel
