New To FFXI + Forum!!

Well, i'm a new member to the forum, and i'm also new to FFXI. I haven't started playing yet, because I thought it might be a wise decision to find a group of players that I could play with before going into the game.

This isn't to say I want my hand held or everything given to me each step of the way or anything. I'd just find a game like this much more fun with a bunch of people than with very few people, or by myself, you know?

If anyone could reccomend a server or do any of that world pass stuff, I hear there are benefits for doing so, and i'd like to join one of the msot populated servers if it all possible, yet I know that you can't choose your server, sadly.

So yup, if you can help out with any of that, it'd be appreciated!

I'm kinda doing the same thing. I'm thinking of a name to choose, since Carlo is taken. I'll probably start next week and, most likely, on Valefor since someone on my friends list (xbox360) insists.
Have you been doing your ffxi research? My advice is to learn as much of the basics you can, including the basics of skillchains, jobs, subjobs, etc.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Also, i'm playing on the PC. Is the PC version much worse/better than the Xbox 360 or PS2 version?

And I think i'm going to be grabbing a world pass on Ragnarok if possible, since I hear it is the most populated.

Do a lot of people even play FFXI anymore?

Well first off welcome to the boards.

We are an open community, that would oblige to awnser any questions you have (but use the search function, it really prevents clutter, duplicate threads, and questions that have been awnsered multiple times)

For your first question, the PC version can be as great, or as bad as your computer is. It's really made so that nearly any computer can play it decently. Here's a link to the Vanadiel Benchmark so you can see how your computer will handle. I've never seen the Xbox 360 version, but my computer is pretty darn good, and could probably come close to the Xbox version.

(edit)My computer personally got a 5215 score with some programs running in the background, my highest score was about in the lower 6000s

For your second question go to the Ragnarok forums, and post in the Official World pass request thread, where you may request a world pass.

Lots of people play FFXI, theres no shortage here
