well a fast comp and fraps full version or even better but not very easy:

use a tv out graphics card (alomst every geforce have them) and connect it to another pc with a hardware video capture card. (if u havent to a video recorder. )

capture what you like at the second pc (or play from tape and record on pc).

then u just need to recompress it the way you like.
this way doesnt needs to much resources if u have a slow comp and its realy good quality. but i recommend fraps if u have a realy fast comp.

          @ ahdam

with fraps yes without you need a video recorder and a tv.

then u have to use the tv out of ur graphics card to the video recorder. the tv u need to see what ur doing.

then play the recorded video from tape back to ur comp. but from tape it isnt that good.

there is a big lost of quality fraps capture directly from computer but it makes FFXI slow down
i'll try with pic video codec :D

Throgar, what are your PC specs so I can get an idea as to what quality I can set FFXI to.

              For reference, i'm running this:

              1024MB PC3200 (400 MHz) DDR RAM
              2.8GHz P4 Hyper-Threaded Processor with HT enabled
              -Two Logical Processors
              GeForce FX 5600 Ultra 256MB
Western Digital 120GB 8MB Buffer Cache 7200RPM Hard Drive

And, for simplicity's sake, I got a 5716 on the bench test. Will I be able to run it at full quality? What did YOU get on the bench test so I know how far below full quality I will be? Thanks.

Awesome video. I really liked how you sped up the frame rate of the recorded footage so you could show more of Vana'diel in a smaller amount of time. And if I'm wrong about the frame speed being sped up some then damn, does that look unatural the way the chocobos head spasams up and down when it moves.

Wow, I had no idea so many people would enjoy this video as much as they did. Thanks for all the praise. Sadly though, this'll probably be my first and last video ever made for FFXI.

The beta is now over, and I don't know if I'll be buying FFXI when it becomes retail or not. We'll see though.

Other than that, I'm glad to have entertained so many people with this little creation of mine. Have fun and stay cool.
