Haha. I honestly hope that's not the reason. My guess?
1) They do it for the gender/race's statistical advantage.
2) They're perverted.
3) They're gay.
The majority falls under "1)". But you do have... other cases. In Beta, there was someone who played a female Taru named Mercuie. This "man" convinced every one that he was a woman (yes, he was doing it intentionally), until some one (a guy he apparently had a crush on) forced the truth out of him. That's just a little something for you to keep in mind while trying to court a female character online.
