i posted this on another forum, but i miss this one and i thought some people might find it interesting


i completed my 3rd relic katana upgrade, allowing me to use the relic ws Blade: Metsu in dynamis.






played around with it in dynamis later that day

so we do the DL fight and this happens:






but it was at like 15% and we finish him off without anymore problems






my co-leader and another pld/nin (who both happen to be the oldest tanks in my hnm ls) get to lot the mantle:



poor masa he'll get the next mantle though guaranteed

How do you manage to run FFXI at that res without lagging in Dynamis? Any tips?
I'm running a 3.0GHz HT, 1024mb ram, 256mb video (Radeon 9800 PRO)...
In Dynamis, I get like 1fps >_<;

In Dynamis, I get like 1fps >_<;

i lag still, but i lag at every resolution so i just stay at the one in the screenshots.

a few things that i know off-hand that help:

turning sound off

turning shadows off

turning weather off

models displayed/clipping plane down.

other than that, it's actually strange because from what i understand about the ffxi engine, the processor is the most important thing used when calculating your fps. wish i could help you more, but i don't think you should be getting poor frames in dynamis with your system. sounds like generic advice, but you may wanna check drivers with your card. nvidia certainly has problems with their drivers (the most up-to-date ones aren't supported by the game), so it's possible (though unlikely) that the most recent catalysts have a problem with the game.

thanks! it's a really long, tough road. i started buying coins for mine about a year ago, and i'm about 4000/10000 bynes on the last stage. still quite a while to go
