I remember one time, about 2 years ago (when I was still in the process of developing my RDM through CN), I entered CN and there were worker crawlers and stuff all by the entrance. I immediately assumed they wouldn't aggro because they never did. But hidden amongst them were a Knight Crawler or two. And Crawlers link >< So, after dying and just hanging around to see what will happen next, a Galka PLD enters and gets aggroed by the link also. He starts cursing and stuff. But amazingly he got away with a warp scroll, without having to use invincible. The good'ol days

Although, CN trains could never out do Garlaige trains. Because undead creatures suck

However, about 4-5 months ago, I was exping by the entrance in Garlaige, around the stairs. Someone passes by us with some bats they trained. Apparently, this player wasn't the only one with hate and the bats progressed to find the remainder of their group. As they proceed to find the other members, they suddenly attacked me and I died in 2 Jet Streams >< I was resting at the time, which I had figured to be the cause of aggro, but it was really weird. I've never seen those bats aggro anyone before Winged Rats and Siege Bats. It spooked out our WHM alot XD Though, only I died

I saw something interesting the otehr day... I was down in the basement watching for Serket cause I was bored and it was late. Someone pulled a Borer Beelte from up top but it ended up going around and down the stairs which then linked 3 Chamber Beeltes which proceeded to go up the stairs... I followed them the whole way cause I was wondering what teh hell happened and when the PT zoned I killed em off.... I got a good laugh out of it.

GC is a wierd place.
An explosive (bomb type) aggroed me THRU invis while i ran past it...causing my sneak to drop and aggroing nearby bats.. died before i could realize wtf happened.

I've always wondered what would happen if you have aggro on the top floor and fell thru the cracks? would the mobs jump down or would they take the long way linking everything on the way?

also if someone warped a pt member with aggro, would warp cause you to get aggro?

I think warp gives that person that casted it aggro.

I actually had that happen to me the other day in giddeus. Was waiting for members that I was helping fight the 2-3 Dragon with, so I decided to do a little training. Had about 5 yags on me as I dropped down the hole heading towards the higher lvl yags for the chest key and didn't see em follow me down the hole, so I started another train with these yags. As I exited that drop though heading for Balgas Dias I had the previous train I had made, plus all the links in between the hole and the spot where they caught up to me with. So I'd say they will take the long way around, but if you really wanna know, start a train and drop through a hole

Yeah, hidden holes or blocked paths the npc's will take a longer route around. This is part of why you see these bat trains in GC. On more then one occassion I've seen a puller that is using a range weapon not pay attention to if the bat has a direct path to them, the end result is they'll shoot a bat that's across an area that is completly cutoff on the ground. This leads to the bat taking a long route around to reach them and pulling a massive train of bats.

Similar occurences of this also happen in some areas were the player thinks the monster will scale the wall side to reach them and instead take the longer route. Assuming a monster will go a certain path because you've done it in another area is not very bright, sooner or later you'll end up finding a spot were that doesn't work and end up training a whole mass of mobs to you.

This was a really funny occurance, concidering you all ran off with out me, I had no map, got through safely and found you all dead XD

Someone mentioned it was a mob that poped through the floor when a party memeber used a AOE effect?

I was surprised to find this screenshot, Oujuuyajuu was the only thing that clued me into this being my party XD

Heh, recently went through Citadel again. Me, a 75 WHM, 75 WAR and a 74/75 (hes borderline dont remember what he was) SAM were getting coffer for the SAM (BLM AF). A flesh mob aggrod the WAR b/c of ow HP through the floor or something and followed us up to the 3rd door Maybe that kind of thing happened here?

hah I was soloing a fetid flesh earlier (decent chall) when I noticed it was getting the best of me, decided to sleep2 it and escape.while i was casting sleep i realized my weapon was still out so i backed up to avoid waking it. I was in a corner where a chest pops and there is a little ledge that I backed up to. Element seal + sleep didnt stick, and I started to panic but then the ugly frog did something wierd, he started moving away from me once i stepped on the ledge. I guess it was trying to go around the room to climb the ledge, but I was right in front of him! Bad collision detection I guess but it bought me the time i needed to ger escape off and get the hell outta there.

I'm not sure what did it, but the mass of bones and bats are from the other side of the door. The bones are in the rooms, and the bats are in the hallways, both far enough away not to aggro. They aggroed the thief I think because he had low health. I'm guessing one or two were drawn a little closer than normal and linked. But that wouldn't explain how many of them came through the door all at the same time.

Perplexing.

LS was helping a few members get G1 items about three weeks ago. We get to the entrance of the Citadel and noticed there were about 30+ people standing there.

So we zone, figuring there will be some zone clearing fun. We had about 15 people ranging from Lv.50 to Lv.72, so we went in weapons blazing. We found about 15 bats, some bones and I think a beetle or two. We set off to work. Firing off AoE weapon skills left and right.

We were making short order of the mobs, but some of the mobs were building TP at a retarded rate. The people outside zoned back thinking, "Well the big boys who just went in should have killed everything by now." They zone, and the Bones do their AoE Drain. Next thing you know we have a host of dead Lv.34 people, and Bones that now have 100% health.

We had a number of LS members who damn near died, but we managed to kill them all. We had 2 RDMs Chainspell Raise, as well as other mages casting Raise.

I stood there, DRK51, mad that I couldn't use Drain myself (That's my most favoritest spell in the whole wide Vana'diel), with about 10HP to my name, wishing I could turn my Scythe on the idiots that did this. Then thinking, "Well that's the Shitadel for ya. /sigh"

i remember a GC an CN train yesterday (was NM hunting of course) me being 65sam that day i chose to be 65sam/32drk (just to see how it would go) 12 worker crawls 7 knights 2 scorps and the nm crawl we was after (pt was me an my trusty whm compaion shes rlly nice to me) and we killed them all i was 478/1336 hp :p an she had no mp afterwards so we left just in case the not so smart bst that did it would feel safe at training again. We went off to GC for helpin with G1 and Sam and rdm hat fight (i'm so guillible on my server when a chic asks for help) ;sigh; and when we zoned i thought all of GC was there besides the NMs (who trained was one of my server's gilsellers who in turn wants me dead for stealing all her claims ;-; and we almost won but my cocky rdm friend popped in an -gaed the lot 9almost killed himself but we managed to save his taru butt. Plain an straight this happens on every server ;_;

GC has a special place in everyone's hearts. yes mobs pass thru the %^%$# Banishing Gates, every time we went to BG3 so I could get my coffer, someones sneak would wear and we'd get aggro, then when someone's health would dip, and all hell would break loose. Skellies would just pass thru the door and gang up on us. The last time I went, and we all actually made it thru the gate (i never understood why they always wanted me to be the furthest out and why we all had to go thru, unless someone was lying and wanted coffer too >.>) but that time (10th and final before a full level drop) despite the calls and cries for help, (most were in my LS) a simple (|I'm sorry.|) and an offer to tractor was enough to let everyone know, I wasn't about to HP again. We might have won, but I was tired of gambling at BG3. Ironically I was never on the "wrong" side of the gate upon closing, except for my first go, but just 1 cure garanteed death.

it wasn't 10 times with a pt, 6 other times I had journeyed to GS solo hoping to find people willing to help me open the gates.

GC trains are fun too ^^
