Hey Fal. Great pics! Especially the CoP missions. Too lazy to get the promyvions done though (Tried once died... waste of 4 hours = not anxiously wanting to do again lol) I'm thinking of getting of my lazy hume bum and switching nations from Bastok to Windurst since I do so much stuff relating there. The story seems very good. Keep them coming :D

To Vanalesca: Thank you! Promy isn't easy, especially when you don't have a "cookie cutter" PT or people with experience with it. Hope your next Promy run is better (if you choose to do it). As for nation switching, everyone knows Windurst is best!

Hehe, I'm not in high school, I graduated last year. The reason I've got so much free time is because I'm currently looking for a job. And wow, I didn't know that Aurorine and Bjbreeze were the leaders of the last NA Dynamis shell. They're both in my LS (Ronin)! Well, Bjbreeze isn't, but I think he used to be. Small world (server?).

And wow, awesome pics of the rank 10 mission. ^^ I saw a video of it once. All I can say is that mission is just über-awesome for Ajido fangirls like myself. ^__^ Hehe, since you didn't get any pics of his spell "macros," I figured I'd post 'em here for anyone interested. When he uses Flood, he says "You should be thankful. I'll give you a shortaru trip back to the hell you came from!" and when he uses Burst, he says "Play time is over! Powers of dark mana, answer my call!" And then near the end of the fight (or maybe it wasn't, but this sure ended it quick), he used Chainspell and a bunch of -III and -IV spells in quick succession. So awesome. to Ajido.

        • Nice shots on the Windurst Missions... makes me want to switch over to that country so I can see um! Oh well, I guess I should probably do the Bastok ones first :p.

          • Bastok missions are satisfying in their own way. There's less stuff about Epic Important Goings-On, and a lot more character development of the people in the country. There's more to say of course, but for spoiler reasons I will keep my mouth shut. The final cutscene was very heartwarming.

San d'Oria missions ... I still need to get past stupid level-capped 5-1 so I can whip together a high level party and blast through everything after that. I'll give my opinions of the storyline once I've actually seen it.

To Grodo: Well, the Assault Jerkin is a nice piece of equipment (for me especially). It gives me stats I really couldn't get in another armor (as a Red Mage). Many Dragoons tend to use this armor because there hasn't been much available to them in the past. I use it for solo armor.

For Dynamis, all melees must be level 70 or higher. There are several reasons for this. First, being melee, you have to be in the front line where you see all the action. So it is very likely you'll get hit directly or by AoE. We need our melees to be strong. Secondly, you need to be able to hit the mobs in Dynamis. If you can't hit, you can't do damage. Not doing damage = not killing mobs quickly. Mages on the other hand, we allow to be the minimum level (level 65) or higher. We want our Black Mages to be high to help in killing stones, but the other mages (White Mage, Summoner, Bard, Red Mage), they function quite well by 65.

Summoner? I'm level 63. I usually play it two or three times a week. Maybe more if I have time.

Umm... RDM/SMN and RDM/BRD? Well, I'm not entirely sure on your PT configuration or what you were fighting, so this is just speculation. Last time I saw you, you were level 62 a few weeks ago. So I have to assume you're level 63 or something. So the natural places for you to fight is Either Valley of Sorrows, Kuftal Tunnel, Quicksand Caves, or Labyrinth of Onzozo. If you're PT is ideal, then I expect you to start on Skimmers, Processionaires, or Steelshells in the Boyahda Tree. Out of those 5 places, you need a White Mage or White Mages subjob in 3 of those places. Most players stick with Labyrinth of Onzozo for a while because the previous areas listed provide too little XP (even in chains). The Boyahda Tree is out of league for many players at that level because of the lack of damage to take out Skimmers quickly (Chaos Orb hurts). Processionaires are really for level 65s, so unless you had a Thief and Ranger together to do high damage, you would likely not attack Processionaires this early. I'll just assume you went to Labyrinth of Onzozo at the time.

Now, since you just said you had a black mage in your party, it is assumed your Red Mage's purpose wasn't for nuking. PTs need a Refresher or the XP goes very slow (unless you had really high damage members, such as Dual Ranger). So either you had a Bard already, you needed a stat-remover, or your PT was very stubborn. With that said, the Red Mage's purpose was likely for was for healing. Now, every Red Mage has Cure IV at that level, so actual "cures" may not have been a problem, it is the enfeeblement removals that is key. The Black Mage could have possibly had a White Mage sub, but most Black Mages I've seen hate having to heal their party members. They would rather focus on their role of Elemental Magic. In addition, Toramas use Blaster and Chaotic Eye *very* *very* frequently. So, if you would've picked up a Red Mage/Summoner or Red Mage/Bard, it wouldn't matter if he could refresh the entire party. Unless you can remove Paralyze and Silence from your tank, your PT efficiency is shot.

                Red Mage/Bard:
Again, I'm not quite sure who was in your party. This works if there are a lot of magic-using members in your party. This subjob role is highly situational. You would likely pick this subjob if you are not needed for healing, status removal, or escaping. Refresh + Ballad is better than Refresh alone but first and foremost, you need to have a subjob that your party needs. As a RDM/BRD, your likely role is Debuff, Refresh, Haste, and toss an occasional cure. You'll likely use Ballad most of the time. If you use Ballad, you cannot use other songs because:
                1. Only one song sticks. Ballad would be this song.
                2. Singing another song would take too long. Do not forget your role is Refresh, debuff, haste, occasional cures.
                3. Ballad does not require skill.
Red Mage/Bard is not bad, but it works better in certain party configurations (unlike the standard RDM/BLM or RDM/WHM which can fit in any party).

                Red Mage/Summoner:
People do this for several reasons.
                1. Auto-Refresh.
                2. MP Boost Stat
                3. Balanced MND & INT status
                4. Aerial Armor
Those seem to be viable choices to do Red Mage/Summoner. However, you have much less usefulness as a /BLM or /WHM. You lose a lot of spells you would normally use with both subjobs. Aerial Armor is good but depending on what you fight, blowing 94 MP for something that will go away in a few seconds is not worth it. However, blowing 94 MP on something that will take several Cures to recover from is worth it. Again, highly situational. (Note: Aerial Armor is worthless if you have a Ninja tank or jobs with Utsusemi). As with Red Mage/Bard, this combo is not bad but it works better in certain party configurations.

Now *if* you had a Bard, then yes, he/she could have removed Paralyze & Silence from your PT. Yes you can argue that a good Bard can cast all the songs they need to cast on the tanks, mages, and melee and still have time to heal. But, considering you are already 63 and you have a Black Mage, the Toramas should die quick. Quickness leads to a faster pace. Faster pace leads to more paralyna & silena per battle. Occasionally, a Bard will have to toss a Cure 2 or 3 on someone just in case something goes awry. A Bard's MP can't refresh that quickly (remember his/her Ballad wears off because he is casting songs on everyone).

Anyway, that is my analyzation. By no means are those subjobs bad. I'm not going to tell you to stay away from them. I've PT'd with those subjobs and it wasn't truly horrible. However, those combos work but only on a limited basis. Thus, it is safe to say considering your party, they wouldn't have worked as well as a true RDM/BLM or RDM/WHM and that's why your BLM was adamant about not letting that Red Mage in your group.

I didn't realize that it was already a new school year. Good grief time flies, doesn't it? Man I'm getting old. I remember the last time I really sat down and talked to you, you were getting married to some guy in game. Btw, how did that go? I never got an invitation.

Well, it was organized by Aurorine and BJBreeze, but I wouldn't call them the "leaders" of it. They just organized the times and destinations. Occasionally, other people had to lead in their absence. BJ is solo now. Aurorine hangs out in DrgnAsh most of the time.

Thanks for the R10 compliments, I did get screenshots of Ajido, but it was a screenshot of my chatbox. Yes... BLM & RDM main is too cool. I first got a taste of it from Suzaku (Red Mage, but has access to every fire-based elemental spell). Firega III & Flare Chainspell is not too nice.

This set of screenshots shows the latest bit of the Promathia Missions. There's not really a lot to say about these screenshots. Oh and I did leave out the dialogue between the Gehbi Damomohe. So this may screw up CRTwenty's script a little (my pre-emptive apologies sir). She said pretty much the same variation of the last screenshot. Anywho, here's the latest batch.

It's rare-ex and looks like the chips you can buy from gobs for the strange apparati. Is that the "jewel" that the mithra wants you to get for the Pso'Xja pass? If so, I'll need to hang on to that for whatever time in the far future I actually get to do that mission.

To Vilurum: I thought about not replying (not with the purpose of being an ass) but because I thought maybe you would feel a better sense of accomplishment for doing things on your own. Afterall, you seemed to have done most of the CoP maps before anyone really knew how to do them. Plus, I know some people get pissed off when I tell them how to do some quests/missions. Then I realized, you wouldn't have asked if you didn't care (after all, you do read the Promathia Missions dialogue in my screenshots). So... Yes, that chip is the 'jewel' you turn in.

But, on the good side, its warm hearted people like you that will keep me playing this game even though a piece of equipment i had worked long and hard for was taken from me. Anyways, im gonna stop the rant.

Evidentally someone on y server, i would suppose DivineWind LS, defeated Tiamat, and a japanese whm friend of mine showed me the drops. He drops a pair of boots which have the same effect of striders except that instead of boosting agi, they boost evasion and mp significantly. Might wanna look into taking those things on for the advancement of your LS. Just imagine the +12% movement sped from the boots in addition to the +12% movement speed from the crimson cuisses.

I hope all is well Fal, as well is with Kyrial and everyone else. Everyone stay well, and have good times on the adventures to come.

To Fafnyr: Stolen?!? The only way I can see someone stealing from you in real life is either logging onto your account or going over to your place while you were in the bathroom or something. Or hacking your account or whatever. That sucks man. You know, I have 2 roommates and I often do leave my computer on with FFXI running. I have no safeguards that they will log in and just toss my entire Rare/EX inventory out the window. I wouldn't know what I would do if they did such a thing.

Anyway man, that sucks... bigtime. FFXI is just a game, but it is a game where you put a lot of time "developing" your character. A 3 million gil bow does not happen in just a few hours. I hope you feel better. Thanks for the compliment BTW.

It is said Tiamat is the easiest of the 3 Wyrms. The drops seem "ok". They don't seem very noteworthy from what I've seen so far. My LS has tried Jormagund (from the screenshots you saw), but I don't think they've tried another since then. Tiamat, being the easiest, is talked about quite frequently in LS chat. I think we may attempt her sometime soon. Those boots are for mage-classes only I believe. I haven't looked into it in depth though.

Thanks for posting what's going on in your life. Keep in touch!

Oh, and as for my wedding, we still haven't managed to get it set up yet. Every time we submit our application, we get an e-mail a couple weeks later informing us that we were not picked and to submit another one. >_< Once we get an actual date set, you can be sure you'll get an invitation.
